It's about putting players into tiers... and the picking by need within the different tiers. They aren't picking a tier 3 player over a tier 2 player based on need... but need essentially works as the tie breaker...

Drew Rosenhaus said he expects the Dolphins to trade pick #54 for Branden Albert, and to take either Chance Warmack or Tyler Eifert at 12 overall.

Since when does Drew Rosenhaus think he's some kind of reporter?

It is hard to determine when Drew is talking out of his tail or when his information is legir.

Yeah, I read that the other day. I didn't mention it because it's Drew and I didn't know if he represented one of them etc, but with that said, I hope he's right about the last name he mentioned.

Since the teams considering taking tackles that highly are picking top 8, yep, they are idiots.

Yeah, because they should be taking dime a dozen receivers that high.

    I'm on a roll here..:shifty:

It just appears to me that the crusty, experienced "nfl men" have it wrong, and they are the ones who trained the current crop of GM's who of course do the same things.

As Parcells left town, what had this approach yielded exactly? And do keep in mind objectively Wallace is the same plug in as Marshall was, just a short cut.

All your arguments against drafting tackles high were shot down in your own thread. Don't hijack another to rehash all the same thing.

Sadly I think it is and most of the time should be BPA. Right now on paper it would appear that we have needs on the offensive line and in the cornerback department. I'd like to see us shure up the O-line. Draft Warmack and make a trade for Albert. This eliminates any excuses for Ryan Tannehill at this point. We then have the luxory of drafting the best players available with rest of our draft picks.

I think it's fine for those teams to draft one of the OTs or for the Dolphins to do it if one is there.

But, trading away a 2nd round pick to move up into to the top 5 to draft an OT?

Sorry, I just don't see the value in that because I don't see these guys as radical, game changing HOFers. It's not like one is an LT like disrupter of another team's entire game plan on D.

Trading for Albert and drafting Warmack would give the team one Hell of an OL. Deep too, with Garner, Jerry and Louis on the bench. We'd be scraping to fill both DE and CB later on though, with only one remaining second rounder. Again, Albert's contract demands have to come down too though, or its all moot.

Yeah, I think that's the big thing...while Loekel, Fisher and Johnson are the best of this draft, they aren't prospects like say Long and Thomas were coming out... That's still not to say they aren't the best of this draft and if you need an OT, they are the cream of the crop...

And given the scope of this year's draft where #5-#50 have little separation in talent, trading up isn't really the best option... Trading a #42 or #54 for an established OT (Albert) isn't my ideal, but at the same time, I wouldn't cry either. Fact will be that it's likely we come out of the draft with a question at LT (whether that is Martin moving over or some other option other than the top 3 guys) unless a move like that is made....still....I don't like that option very much, but wouldn't cry too hard either...

I would trade a 3rd for Albert after the first round is done. Just to make sure one of the top 3 guys don't fall. Nothing more than that though. Let KC place themselves in an awkard spot and cap hell for a year if they don't take that offer.

Agreed. And if Johnson doesn't fall to us at #12, we can either take Eifert, or trade back. Although, I don't think Eifert is a target.

I think there's gonna be at least one or two surprise picks in the top ten. Which may make for a difficult decision for Irsih at #12.

In the end, assuming Millner and the top three OT's are all off the board by the time we pick at #12, I really hope we can trade back 3-6 spots and pick up another second rounder. That would make a trade for Albert a lot easier.

Strategically speaking, I just don't think we could be in a better position than where we are.

Could you imagine getting Albert for our #54, then trading down, getting that lost 2nd rounder back, and still getting Eifert or Austin..can you say Mickey mantle shot.

I don't mind eating crow on this but I think everyone is off on Johnson and he will be a pro-bowler before the other 2. I'd rather use the 2nd to move up for the young blood. Is it a gamble? What isn't? Money that everyone on this board will be carrying pitch forks and torches off for a hanging of a doctor and a GM if Albert gets injured in the first half of the season. Life is a game of no limit hold em. I do agree the odds lay favorite on a proven vet.

Since you have so little regard for the LT position, it is obvious you would feel this way. Fortunately NFL GM's know a lot more about the true value of LT's then you do and that is why 3 LT's will be taken within the first 6-8 picks in this weeks draft.
