Dr. Manhattan is increasingly nude..because he begins to have a god complex and doesn't care for clothing. Alan Moore said that the inspiration was "David" for Dr. manhattan... Dr. manhattan is supposed to be perfection. he is basically....GOD. So God lets it all hang out. makes perfect sense.
Wow... I would have paid the ten bucks just to see their special effects. Some of the things they did there were pretty sweet.
I wanted to walk out around 90 minute mark, and that is unheard of for me for a DC movie. Posted via Mobile Device
Gotcha. The special effects were incredible, but the story was a little too dark and slow, plus the characters, great as they are in their own regard are hard to relate to and care for. It was cool seeing the 'tough kid' from the orignal 'Bad News Bears' back in action, however. How many of you recognized him when he took off the mask?
I didn't think it was that great. Good yes, for sure. But I was really disappointed. I've read about half the comic as well. The problem to me, was that it wasn't an action movie like The Dark Knight. That wouldn't be bad, but the problem is that it tried to have too much story and in all honesty the story isnt that compelling to me at all.
The symbol represents the atom. It's also supposed to look like the face of a clock with the hands stopped on 12. By the way, I'm not sure what movie the folks who didn't like this one are coming from ... I thought it was pretty damn good, and I'm personally waiting for the Director's Cut that will have the Tales of the Black Freighter integrated back into it. If I had a complaint, it was that it was almost too short ... and I prefer the ending in the comic. It's just so ... gruesome. Here's my take: If you've read and loved the book, then you probably watched and loved this movie. If you haven't ... I guess I can see how it would be a bit hard to catch everything in the limited amount of time that Snyder has to tell the story. I loved it. Arguably my favorite film of the year so far ... 2009 has been a great year for movies so far. I'd strongly recommend that you see this, but I'd almost suggest reading the book through so you can catch everything that's going on.
hey KC has beltran and johnny damon..................... oh....****.....they did......they did have those guys.....my bad
I actually heard a couple of different people say they needed to buy that soundtrack as I was leaving the movie.
One thing I liked was that they used different music from different periods of time. I really loved the use of All Along the Watchtower as it was used in the final scene. Freakin' awesome. Oh, and I picked up both the score and the soundtrack ...
The music itself is fine... I'm saying I didn't like music in regards to how it was used in the movie. It didn't fit, IMO (most of it,there is an exception or two).
Did anyone else really really want them to Spoiler Have Manhattan squish Osymandis like a bug. I could not stand that guy. He was such a little ****. ?
Spoiler I enjoyed the movie after the first hour or so. The first hour was very slow, but I understood the need to develop the story and backgrounds of the characters. The sex scenes were border line soft porn. And the blue guys willy flapping around everywhere was disturbing. The movie was very well done though. From the special effects to the acting, to the plot. I enjoyed the movie. I do not know if it something I could watch again simply due to the lenght of the movie. I might watch the sex scene again though...
I want to say the music was taken from the comic book which had quotes from music at different points. I remember the quote from the song All Along The Watchtower at the end, I don't have the comic here to check but I do believe thats where it came from.
I really enjoyed the movie. It was a long movie but I thought it was very true to the spirit of the original graphic novel as well as pretty accurate all things considered. If you never got into the comic you might not enjoy it as much but as a fan of comics and a person that has read and re read this graphic novel dozens of times I have to say it was amazing to see it on the big IMAX screen. I still think the story has a lot of relevance in this day and age and the characters are great.
Never read the graphic novel, sad to say, but I absolutely loved this movie. I have a friend who had read the graphic novel and he was disappointed. Strange how that worked... lol
Kind of weird, many of the scenes were literally taken frame for frame from the comic. But hey I heard the same from some guys at the movie I guess theres no pleasing some people, loved the movie. Glad to hear some people that haven't read the comic got it and loved it.
He was actually in another movie a few years ago where he plays a sexual deviant ex-con whose bat**** crazy mom tries to set him up on dates He was nominated for an Oscar. Cant remember the name of the film though...
Very good film. I enjoyed it. Wasn't that long a little drawn out but well deserved. Spoiler I was upset when Dr. M killed Rorschach
I was as well, but it was a great climax to the story. And it made perfect sense. There really was no true villian in the movie, which made the genuis of the whole Watchmen phenom even greater IMO.
