    TUNA TAKES A COUPLE COWBOYS
Posted by Mike Florio on April 25, 2008, 9:54 p.m.
Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports that the Dallas Cowboys have traded linebacker Akin Ayodele and tight end Anthony Fasano to the Miami Dolphins.

Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that the Cowboys will receive a fourth-round pick in exchange for the two players.

Ayodele was signed as a free agent from the Jaguars in 2006. His role became uncertain after the Cowboys signed veteran Zach Thomas. But Ayodele vowed to keep his starting job. “I’m going into the season like it’s my position,” Ayodele said. “I am the starter and nothing has changed.”

Fasano was a second-round draft pick in 2006.

I'm not really sure what to make of this. Could trading this fourth rounder mean that we possibly have a deal in place to send JT to (insert team name here) for a 2nd and a 4th ?

Ya know I get Pacells likes his guy's but when those guy's have already proven to be less then worthy of starting why waste picks on them more then once?

Is there a bright side in this trade? Only a 4th? We need every draft pick we can get bro, we were 1-15 last year.

The 4th would have gotten us one need filled, trading the 4th helped in the attempt to fill 2 needs. Fasano is young, and hasnt had much of a shot playing behind Witten. Keep in mind, these are Parcells/Ireland's players. Had the drafted Fasano to someday replace a guy like witten, whats wrong with bringing him here? He's already an improvement over anything we already have. Trying to be positive here!

True but Fasano did lose some playing time to some rookie TE named Curtis.

We just got two starters for the price of one. One is a promising young TE (comparable to a guy like Carlson, which we were probably gonna draft in the 3rd or 4th), and the other will be a 29 yr old ILB that has had 5 seasons of 100+ tackles in his career. I don't see how that's not two starters, which we could not possibly fill with one pick anyhow

Anyway we got Tampa and Jacksonville interested in JT. That's a 2nd and a 4th/5th. We'll get that pick back and then some

I understand your reaction Alen, but keep in mind, we just got two guys who are capable starters, and only gave up a 4th round pick.

As I mentioned, im pretty confident at this point that JT is as good as gone for a 2 and 4, or a 2 and 5.

Relax out here guys, keep in mind... This is Parcells... how many teams has he rebuilt?

Have a brew and keep rockin!

I don't understand the anger towards this deal. We filled our need for another ILB with a veteran; Crowder, Ayodele, and Torbor should be a fine set. We also filled the need at TE by trading a 4th-round pick for a guy who was drafted in the 2nd-round merely two years ago and couldn't beat out Jason Witten, a Pro Bowl caliber TE. You get a veteran ILB in the deal as well.

Don't see the reason to complain.

I think this is a good trade. We only traded away a forth rounf pick and I know we need as much picks as possible because we were 1 - 15 but we fill two needs and give away one forth round pick and Akin Ayodele and Anthony Fasano is a young tight end that could be promising

I was thinking the same thing as I read the article. This is not a bad trade for us at all people.

With Fasano only being 24, we get our TE now instead of drafting one. He also obviously has a lot more experience then a rookie would.

Ayodele is a proven starter at a position that we're very thin at, talent wise. Wouldnt be suprised if Crowder loses his spot to him.

And we got both of these potential starters for one 4th rounder. lol How can you really be mad at that? I think it's pretty safe to say that we got a lot more value in this trade then we would of got with the pick. Instant upgrades.

Now hopefully JT gets traded like Poco said and we're sitting with at least an additional 2 and 4.

Ayodele seems worth a 4th rounder to me alone, mix in the fact that Fasano was a 2nd rounder in 2006 and I love the deal. Ireland, Sparano, and BP know exactly what they are getting too being that they were their guys.

Funny, when Ayodele was mentioned as possible dolphins weeks back (along with Spears) I remember everyone saying that would be awesome. So when I saw this trade, I was thinking, awesome trade! Then I read the replies lol.

Starting ILB and huge upgrade to our TE, for a fourth rounder? Show me one player here you'd rather have:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_NFL_Draft#Round_four
I see only one 4th rounder from 2006 that's any good - Dumervil. Leon Washington maybe.

But we're getting two players Ireland and Parcells and Sparano know a lot about. In the draft we'd get a 1 in 32 chance if that to nail something decent.

Nice write up DGB Fasano is a good pickup I doubt we get someone that can potentiolly start and is a good blocker in the running game and passing game as good in the later rounds.

For the money it's a smart move. Alos Adoyle still has some good years left and great size Hits like a TRUCK!!!

I think we improve with this trade. We get an LB who will almost def start, and an upgrade at TE. Even if it's not huge, it's still an upgrade. And these were both positions we were expected to draft. So at least initially a real two for one deal. With some more playing time I would expect Fasano to get better, too.

It takes 2 more potentiol needs out that we would need out of having to draft them, so therefore 2 for one makes sense becasue we wouldn't get a starting TE in the 4th and quality LB

I think thats the main point of it. We get another LB, and we get a TE that is capable of starting for us. Sure we give up ONE draft pick, but now we arent using TWO to draft another LB and a TE. We can use our picks on other important positions. this is a great trade for us for its value thats for sure. as i said earlier too, I think Parcells and company are banking on a 2 and a 4(or 5) from trading JT as well. OR... maybe thats why we pulled off this move... to fill two spots with one pick, and allow us to use our others on more important areas while keeping JT.. hmm... who knows

Funny, Fasano wasn't a starter in Dallas, but he is in Miami. Adoyle became expendable when Dallas picked up Zach. Yet Miami picks these guy's up and suddenly we're better off. In this draft there is a lot of talent that will come off the board on day 2, but we don't need any of that.

I believe the idea is that JT will be traded, and he will net us a #2 and a #4, and these guys may not have been starters in Dallas, but Fasano was stuck behind Witten, and Ayodele at least knows the system, something that none of our other Lb's can say.
