The M. Night Shyamalan movie, I read online somewhere from someone who had seen it and is a fan of Shyamalan that it is a very disappointing movie. Have read in other places that it is plants that are killing people. The new Red Band tralers at the link below show alot of gore, Shyamalan said that is what he is going for in this movie, a shock factor, he wants you to remember the gorry moments thats why he made a "R" movie. http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=19636
Theres alot more about the movie at this link, I didnt post the info in case some people dont want to know abot the movie. http://www.collider.com/entertainment/reviews/article.asp/aid/7903/tcid/1
The Happening When I saw the original trailer (maybe the PG13 one) to this movie, I thought it looked kind of stupid. But now that I've scene the R rated trailer with the girl stabbing herself in the neck and the guy laying down infront of a tractor, DAMN this might be interesting. It basically looks like how many crazy and f ed up ways can people commit suicide. Could be worth a look.
I think the way they're trying to sell it on the fact that it's M. Night's first R rated movie seems a bit desperate to me. I think he knows people are skeptical about his abilities these days, so he's hoping if he ups the violence people will come back to see his movie. I'm hoping it's good, and it looks interesting. Just find the focus on the rating in the ad a bit odd.
Yea their def marketing it towards that. I think its probably because most feel like his movies are good but would be better with more action/gore. The whole thing about plants releasing a chemical that makes people suicidal is a little out there too. I duno if thats official but I read it on some site.
what shocked me was that i saw a commercial for it yesterday, and it was the time. it comes out in 2 weeks! wheres the ad campaign?
Im personally not skeptical of his abilities. Unlike almost everyone I really enjoyed The Village, and The Lady in the Water. Theyre both very good stories. I think the biggest problem with them is that they always hype the movies to be scary and stuff, when in reality that isnt what its all about. The Lady in the Water was out there, sure, but it still made for a good story. The village I thought had an excellent story line, the acting was great I thought, especially Bryce Dallas Howard. The previews for the happening, seem weird to me. I think Night making an R-rated movie could really help him. I think he could really do some great things to help tell his story. Only time will tell I guess...
Once you find out what the movie is really about you wont think its that great, i posted about it here. http://forums.thephins.com/showthread.php?t=8879
That was the write up that I was refering to before. Its hard for me to take this guy seriously though because he refers to Unbreakable as a near perfect movie. I thought it was pretty far from that.
Stupidest sounding movie he's ever done! Here's what I heard the plot is... Spoiler: highlight below for MAJOR plot spoiler: the plot is evidently plants with neurotoxins that make people kill themselves.
Spoiler , Yeah I've heared that it was "mother nature" gets pissed off at the human race and decides to kill them all, so plants relase those nuerotoxins, Shamalan has to lay off the weed.
Spoiler you can always just use the buttons I'll definitely go see the movie. Even knowing the plot you guys posted doesn't deter me away from wanting to see it.
MSN Movies: The Happening - 1.5 out of 5 stars The Incredible HULK - 4 out of 5 stars Stop wasting money on suicidal plants and see The HULK SMASH!!! It is truly INCREDIBLE!!
I liked The Happening. I thought it was well done and the storyline is decent. I think Mark Wahlberg doesn't work for me, but he rarely does. I think you guys need to watch it without the reviews in your head. Reviewers are pretty much sheep who follow what one reviewer says. These days, it is cool to rip M. Night, so they all do it. The movie is an eery, good lil flick.
It cannot be any worse than "The Village". Nothing can be worse than "The Village". Being shot in the groin with a nailgun isn't worse than "The Village". Did I mention that "The Village" is a horrible waste of perfectly fine celluloid?
The Gf almost talked me into seing Happening over Hulk. Luckily she submits after I raise my hand... the Hulk it was!
The Happening Ugh had some hope for this movie but after 30-35 mins it was a bore. I felt it could have been better overall The later half of the movie was a utter crapfest. I label this movie as nothing but propaganda.
Definitely wasn't a movie I'd recommend, but I don't think it's as bad as people are making it out to be. It kept me interested throughout the entire flick which is good enough for me. I thought that the plot was interesting, the special effects were pretty decent, and the characters were pretty developed.
I liked Unbreakable and the Sixth Sense, but everything else has done since was crap. I couldnt get into Signs and Lady in the Water was downright horrible.
