And hopefully they'll trade him to us: "Mike Max of WCCO Radio reported this weekend that the Vikings are actively pursuing a trade for wide receiver Percy Harvin. According to the report, the reason the Vikings put Harvin on injured reserve while he was healing from an ankle injury was related to a meltdown Harvin had that was directed toward head coach Leslie Frazier in the presence of several players. Sources said that teammates didn’t take well to Harvin’s blow-up at Frazier, which was similar to an episode Harvin had with former head coach Brad Childress. As a result, the report claims, the Vikings are looking to trade Harvin while his trade value is high." http://min.scout.com/2/1265767.html
I think they'd absolutely love Percy Harvin from Joe Philbin to Jeff Ireland, if not for the personality issues.
Eh, like his game, but would pass on him as I suspect he has more issues then people outside the Vikings realize
hope this dosent happen but he suits the pats offense and they liked him alot in the draft but vikes beat them to him
The thought of Harvin missing games due to his migrains will give Dolphans a headache. That would have to be a concern with him.
red flags all over the place… and really how high is his value right now? If you are talking about a 4th round pick then I would be OK with that but I am sure they want more than that
TBH firedan, I suspect the migraines and erratic behaviors are linked, inow, dude could very well be nutz
The Dolphins will not pursue Percy Harvin, IMO. To do so would be directly contradicting the philosophy which led to their trading away one of the league's very best wide receivers for Michael Egnew and a mid-3rd. They can't afford to be seen contradicting that philosophy. They have to stick to their guns and insist that no matter how good Brandon Marshall is, no matter how he produces in Chicago, they're better off with him no longer on the football team. Everyone knows Percy Harvin has been a headache player. There's no amount of rationalization or twisting the truth that can get you around that. The guy once threw a weight slab at his head coach for christ's sake.
Report: Vikings looking to trade Harvin Why trade for Harvin when you can get Jennings for free. Sent from the depths of hell using Tapatalk.
It's not exactly the same. Marshall is a guy that needs a high volume of catches and if he doesn't he becomes a problem specifically with his QB. This offense is built to spread the ball out though. I honestly think that was a big issue of why they traded him. Harvin may have issues, but as far as I know, he's not a guy that's going to come in a pollute your young QB like Marshall had risk of doing. Harvin is an excellent fit in this offense as well. And if the Vikings are "actively" looking to move him, you would think he can be had for pennies on the dollar similar to how the Dolphins didn't get great value for Marshall. I would seriously look into adding him.
Prove what? I wouldn't necessarily mind signing him and let him battle it out with Matthews in TC, but he is what he is at this point.
And push Thigpen on returns as well, if he cannot beat out Thiggie then he really would not have much of a role unless his Wr skills pick up. We do need a Wr who can get vertical, he'd be cheap etc etc
As with all things, what's the asking price? If you could get Harvin for a 3rd... In reality, you traded Brandon Marshall for Percy Harvin and a 3rd round pick (Egnew). That deal doesn't look nearly as ridiculous as Marshall for two 3rds. Percy Harvin might be one of the most complete players around. Guy can do everything. With us potentially exploring some more read option/Pistol, this is a deal made in heaven... If the asking price is right. Jennings + Harvin + Rookie = Profit. Allows us to use our first 3/4 picks (which include all of our higher picks) on positions other than WR. Gives Tannehill two vets (better for development) who are proven play makers. Which would be a great situation. Even with some personality red flags and injury history, I would love Percy Harvin in a Miami uniform. If the asking price is right... Honestly, there isn't a team in the NFL that couldn't use Harvin. And I'm thinking the market for him may be a little too big. Which is why this won't happen. But a man can dream, right? EDIT Wasn't Brandon Traded because the final straw was him hitting a women at a nightclub?
Trade Odrick straight up. Then straight jacket Harvin, Hannnibal Lechter style, between games in a hyperbaric chamber... Sent from my crappy phone in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii Mahalo *****es!
Report: Vikings looking to trade Harvin I have no evidence for this, but I suspect Percy parties a bit too hard. A report comes to mind where he was spotted at Hard Rock in Vegas for a well known party, then he showed up dehydrated and with migraines at Vikings camp the next day and couldn't practice. It may be more than alcohol, as MDMA and Ecstasy can lead to dehydration and headaches I think? So maye some recreational drug use going on. All guesses... But I bring it up because if that's what's up with Percy, and he can't avoid 'partying' hard in Minnesota then what's he gonna be like with South Beach on his doorstep?
Report: Vikings looking to trade Harvin If only this could legally be included in a contract, I'd approve.
IMO, this sounds a little bit more like wishful thinking than something the Dolphins are likely to be thinking about this situation privately.
I get the whole high character thing but Percy Harvin is not exactly a dime a dozen type talent. He is flat out amazing when he's healthy and his head is in the game. I remember MVP talk being brought up during the first five or six weeks of the season involving him as well. He was off to a hell of a start before his year got derailed this past season. I would absolutely take a chance on him. Again we aren't talking about a marginal talent with attitude issues like a Titus Young. Percy Harvin is a game breaker and he would be a good addition to this team. With all that said about how much I like Harvin....I think Tavon Austin would give us the exact same thing. I think that kid is going to be great in the NFL. I hope we draft him...If not we should trade for Harvin.
Personality issues aside, Harvin is a great WR. If he can produce with Ponder at QB I think him and Tannehill could make some magic. Where as some fans like to get boners over WRs who are a product of the QB throwing them the ball, I get excited over guys like Ponder who can produce in just about any offense.
Because Harvin is a hell of a lot better, younger, less injured the last 2 years and doesnt have a diminishing skill set. A lot of these guys are douches. We're dealing with football players not choirboys. The trick is figuring out which douches are on a path to self destruction and legal troubles and which ones are just misguided. Harvin is, imo, misguided. He needs to hear it from the right voice and the light may truly come on. I dont like Gator scum but if Ireland wants to go this route and pair him with Bowe or Wallace I wont complain one bit. Hes a very good WR.
Tough to add a head case like Harvin to a young team, plus he's going to want a lot of money. But damn when healthy? He can make a ton of plays on the football field.
Percy Harvin has developed problems with every single coach he's had in the NFL. And lord only knows what was kept under wraps with him at Florida, but I know that Urban Meyer didn't give him endorsements to the NFL. Yes he's a douche bag on a path to self-destruction. Maybe you think that doesn't matter as long as he plays well on Sunday. Maybe you're right. But if that's true there was no reason whatsoever to ditch Brandon Marshall.
It's hard to ignore the issues with Harvin. But he's so dynamic he's definitely worth a look to see what Minnesota is asking.
