Nolan said Smiley was the odd man out with the 49ers at a position with two up-and-coming talents, David Baas and Adam Snyder. "The Dolphins got a very good football player in Justin," Nolan said. "He's all football. And they got a good buy on him, too." Smiley signed for five years and $25 million, with $9 million guaranteed. New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin said the Dolphins did well in signing one of his former players, linebacker Reggie Torbor. Torbor became a starter for the Giants in Week 13 when Mathias Kiwanuka went down with a leg injury. "Reggie has a great attitude. He works his tail off," Coughlin said. "He was solid in the locker room, did great in the weight room. I see nothing but great things for Reggie."
It's actually kind of reassuring to hear their old coaches giving them praise. If they had problems where they were, the coaches would have talked about it. The fact that the coaches gave them nothing but praise shows just how good of players they can be for us.

I like both of these pickups for us. Theyre both going to be starters and be called upon to contribute right away. Its nice to hear their former coaches saying all these positive signings we've made
I think we'll be happy with Torbor inside, not to say he's a step up from Zach, but he'll be a lot more noticeable than Crowder.
And hopefully a lot more consistent than the Zach of last year. I'm not saying it was all on him that he didn't play, but the fact is, he didn't.
