I am just the messenger here and wanted to pass this along.. On xtra 910, the host Mike Jurecki (sp)? is reporting that there are two teams in the running for a trade for the services for Boldin. The first being the Eagles and the Second....The Dolphins. The report is that it will be for a 1st and a 3rd. Jurecki seems to think the Dolphins are the front runners though. Take it for what it is worth.
Where did you hear that from? I know that I am also not the only person that heard this because a freind of mine called me after he heard it cause he knows that I don't really want him for what we have to give up to get him and he called to rub it in.
I think a First and a Third is a lot for Boldin. but i'd love to have him. He's from South Florida anyways. Come on home Boldin! also a fun fact. Boldin and Eric Green Played against each other 5 times in high school, played together in Arizona and possibly again in Miami.
he scares me. he took a severe pounding last year. 1st and a 3rd would be a disappointment. id go as far as a 2nd and a 3rd, since we have 2 twos. im sure AZ would like to see him shipped off to the AFC.
If Wanny would have just picked him in the first place, we wouldn't be going through this, and possibly giving up picks.
I would have mixed feelings with this. Stoked that Q was a dolphin but the hangover of what we had to trade away and the huge contract he wants would cloud the excitement. Then I think about the chance for Henne to air it out to an all pro stud gets me excited again long enough to realize what we gave up and how much of a salary cap hit he is. Then if we go uncapped and have no problem opening the wallet......I would be glad he was a phin again.
I appericate the article. But what Jurecki was saying is that the Cardinals have narrowed down the teams to these two. Again just the messenger
Exactly, a 1st and 3rd for him is too steep, and we also have to offer a new contract, one in the 9 million dollar range.
I'm not happy with the rumor at all. 1st and a 3rd is too much. I'd give the high second but that's it and I'd bet someone is willing to give more.
He who should never be named again on these boards. Can't we get his name put into the TOS filter? It's like Beetlejuice. Chant ****y's name name 3 times and he'll appear in person to screw something up for you.
I would. I think a PROVEN Pro Bowler at his age is worth the 25th pick and a 3rd rounder. Rookies are not sure hit and Boldin is as close to a sure thing as you can get. If he were a player in this draft he'd be #1 overall or close to it.
Maybe a third, you wouldn't give at least the 44th pick in the draft for ANQUAN BOLDIN? That's Brian Robiskie territory, and there is no comparison. Honestly speaking, I'd rather draft Hakeem Nicks and groom him into our system if he's on the board at #25. If Nicks and maybe Heyward-Bey are gone, then I'd be THRILLED to pick up Boldin for #25 or #44. I agree that a 1st AND 3rd is too much, though.
I think we are idiots if we draft WR with our first pick If we do that then just send Arizona our first.
One of our 2nds and a third would be a very nice deal. I think there's a chance nobody wants to part with a #1 for him.
Yeah I was thinking a 2nd and a 3rd would be good, hell we have 3 7th's throw one of those in there too.
We are idiots if we don't select the best player on the board in the first round. If Hakeem Nicks is on the board, then IMO, he'll probably be the most valuable prospect.
And I'm going to guess that Philadelphia is willing to give up an arm and a leg for Boldin's services. His market is probably extremely high because of them. Not just because of McNabb's demands, but you have to consider the fact that they've got 12 picks in this upcoming draft including two first round selections. I doubt they'd mind giving up a first and a mid rounder for a Pro Bowl caliber WR in Anquan Boldin. I'd be shocked if he doesn't end up in Philadelphia... that Boldin / Jackson duo is going to be DEADLY. If we're offering about the same (Philly would probably offer #21 to beat our #25) then the only thing going in our favor is the fact that Arizona will be competing heavily with Philly in the NFC next year.
A trade like this would be too high profile for this Front Office to do. They make sound, less flashy deals.
This FO does deals that make this team better. Anquan Boldin makes this team better. Better than anyone we could get at #25, IMO.
Personally, I think the 1st and a 3rd is a bit too high. However, for our 2nd second-rounder and a 3rd, I'd heavily consider it.
They make us better by making trades like the Fasano/Ayadele for a 4th rounder, not giving up the farm for someone who wants a fat payday. Besides, how can you say better than anyone at 25? We don't even know who will be there, a lot of guys slide on Day 1. JMO.
I say that because nobody who will be there at #25 makes this better than what Boldin would. Doesn't matter who falls.
Honestly, that offer is too high and I would rather take a chance on Nicks at #25. If it becomes a 2nd and like 4th or 5th, I'd consider.
Speilman may have given up that but this regime is much more austere and conservative. In the past when they have given up draft picks for players they used a 4th for two starters and a 6th for Ferguson .Thats good value and I dont expect they will be giving up two first day picks for one player. Those two picks represents two starters on a team that still needs quantity over quality . Therefore I am not inclined to believe this rumor.
I too am in the boat of a 1st and 3rd being too high. A 2nd and 3rd or just a 1st though...almost too hard to pass up for a guy with Boldins skills. One thing is for sure, we get Anquan, this offence is deadly.
