@AdamSchefter: Dolphins Pro-Bowl C Mike Pouncey underwent hip surgery today and is expected to miss at least three months, per ESPN sources.

I'm guessing the opening day starter at center will end up being Sam Brenner. I don't think as highly of the UDFA Larsen as some here do. Not that I think that highly of Brenner either but they liked him enough that they bypassed Dallas Thomas and put Brenner out at left guard as a rookie in 2013 so that's a pretty positive sign as far as what they think of him.

Any idea on when this injury occurred? He's getting bashed on twitter by people saying he's selfish for waiting until June to have it done.

I think you should probably operate under the assumption he did something stupid until further notice.

The "offseason program" could mean anywhere from February to last weekend.

Just in time for the week 1 game with the Patsies....love it :pity:

Albert Breers says his understanding is the hip labrum was bothering him throughout the spring and he decided to get it taken care of, for long-term stability.

Translation?

No new contract, I'm not playing through this.

Andrew Abramson reporting that the team felt the injury was "not serious" and thought he was fine during the recent mini-camp.

Evidently, Pouncey disagreed and he may now need to start the season the Physically Unable to Perform list, which means he would have to sit out at least until Week 7.

Regardless if that's a correct translation or not... I'm glad he's getting it taken care of. We need to make sure he's good long term, and sacrificing long term stability in his hip for a few extra games this season would be shortsighted and foolish. He's an important piece for our long term future... and we need to make sure he's right. Otherwise it'd be Jake Long all over again...

He's becoming more trouble than he's worth if speculation is true. Not interested in giving him 10 mil/year, but we need him back asap for 2014.

The team thought he was fine while sitting him out of practices?

One step forward....2 steps back. Whole off-season (Spring) and it gets to mini-camp before either party deemed it worth addressing?..err hello?
