This seems odd. Maybe there was a misunderstanding. And, was this quote before or after the statement by Sparano? It appears it was after that. These are strange days in Dolphin land. I'll be glad when football season gets here and the whole soap opera is over with. here is the link to the above quote: http://www.miamiherald.com/616/story/550036.html
"We'll work with football here in the near future," Taylor said. I'm sure everyone of the 83 out of 84 players love that quote!
Eff Strahan. That's probably what they said last year. I want JT back. Not because he's a saint, or any of that. The article yesterday regarding our defense was pathetic. Especially with Will Allen situation.
Taylor on training camp "deal with that when i get there" http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/football/pro/dolphins/sfl-0528jasontaylornew,0,989322.story Dolphins estranged defensive end Jason Taylor doesn't sound as if he's planning a training camp holdout as coach Tony Sparano indicated last week. "I'm under contract with the Dolphins. So again, I'm looking forward to playing some golf," Taylor said Wednesday, according to The Associated Press, after playing in a pro-am for the Principal Charity Classic, a Champions Tour event in Des Moines, Iowa. "Football doesn't start until July and training camp, so I'll be all right. I've been in L.A. and so far removed from it. Like I said, I'll deal with that when I get there."
Taylor was planning on returning home Wednesday evening, in time to host his annual golf classic Monday.
Football really ain't rocket science or brain surgery, and it's not going to feed starving people or stop global warming, or famines. I really think everyone involved in this Mongolian Cluster fiasco has a big case of misplaced priorities - and it's led by Parcells and his prima donna attitude and ego about having things done his way or else. I'd really love to see what Taylor's contract specifies as to what his timing for reporting, working out, and player responsibilities are. If those specifics are from a contract seven years old or so, and don't specify his attendance, Parcells can bluster and bull#^%@ all he wants, and all he's going to get is either an ulcer, or a bigger problem with legal matters if he really hasn't got a leg to stand on except bullying everyone to get his way about making voluntary read mandatory. That is the one thing about Parcells I don't like - his ego driven God complex.
Taylor won't discuss trade http://www.miamiherald.com/616/story/550245.html Another in the endless line of Jason Taylor posts http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolphins_in_depth/2008/05/another-in-the.html
You make some good points Rev, but frankly this team NEEDS a guy like Parcells IMO, with his god complex and all. A 1-15 team doesn't get better unless some sacrifices are made. I really think Parcells may be more at fault here than JT, still waiting for anyone to show me anything that confirms JT or his agent were the ones to say he wouldn't be in OTA's or MiniCamps, or TC. I suspect either BP makes JT his whipping boy and forces him to retire, or he trades him. I would love to see JT play for us next season, but don't see it happening now. I'm all for Parcells and his god complex (I always use the little g when it relates to anyone but the real deal) turning this team around, but he's not perfect and will make mistakes, I suspect this is one of them.
I don't understand why so many people seem intent on blaming the GM, and Head Coach about a player that is missing from OTO days. JT is the guy who has been constantly leaking all of these sad, sob stories to the media. He sounded a little resigned to the fact that he may be 'stuck' here in Miami despite his little time out in the corner...
And you know this how? So far, the media has been pointing to Parcells disdain and umbrage at Taylor's non participation in the teams voluntary activities, and his participation in something which had been arranged before Parcells arrival on the scene. The one throwing the hissy fit is Parcells. He is acting like a spoiled brat with designs on dictatorship from what I read in media. Dismissing without even a word the obviously most productive player left on the roster smacks of being infantile yet arrogant rather than a reasonably mature adult to me.
You asked the right question, but aimed it at the wrong guy. The question should be what do the sports media base their speculation on if Parcells hasn't spoken to the media about this. Remember a couple of years ago in Dallas, the media circus when TO had his hamstring issues? They had a field day with their rampant speculation, but it was the same as this situation. Parcells didn't say anything about it at any time, and you know he has a complete lock down on what his coaches can say to the media. Sports journalism is a complete joke. You need to look for direct quotes or sources, otherwise most of what gets printed is animal skat...
