This looks like a good signing, I know stats don't tell everything, its all I have to go by. Though not Spectacular, he seems solid and should be a contributor to the D

apparently atlanta is letting him go because he got burned so many times last year. still a solid tackler, but apparently his coverage was pretty poor.

Expert's Take: Crocker has good athletic skills and versatility. He can play either safety spot and has been a core special teams player in the past. He reacts pretty well to his keys. He has the speed to run the alleys and maintain leverage on a ball carrier. He can avoid traffic while playing under control in open space. He is a physical insert player. He has good range and gets nice depth off his zone drops. He can pedal and open his hips, but he is more natural jumping underneath routes in short zones than he is in deep zones. He lacks ideal size and functional play strength. His instincts and discipline are questionable. He doesn't always finish when attacking downhill, losing leverage at times. He struggles with downfield angles and sometimes lacks awareness. He didn't always seem to understand back-end coverage concepts in terms of pattern recognition. Crocker is a borderline starter whose versatility boosts his stock.

A grade of 60 puts in just inside the average starter category.

So, maybe just another special teams guy too..

I truly like this sign. I saw Crocker a lot when he played in Cleveland and he reminds me of Yeremiah Bell: not a great coverage safety but he's got a knack for bigplays. Plus, he's an excellent blitzer and run stuffer. I wouldn't be surprised to see him start in the season opener. He's an under the radar kind of guy because he's always played for lousy teams, but if you check the actual tapes, you see a lot of things to like about him. Here's a guy who - under the right circumstances - might really have a breakout season like the one Bigby had for the cheeseheads. Very good sign.

Chris Crocker signs

MIAMI (AP) -Safety Chris Crocker signed a $1.15 million, one-year contract Monday with the Miami Dolphins and is expected to compete for a starting job.

Crocker's deal includes $300,000 guaranteed. He started 14 games and had three interceptions for Atlanta last year, and he has 52 starts in five NFL seasons.
