This is the way I see it... 1. St. Louis, 1-15 2. Detroit, 2-14 3. Tampa Bay, 3-13 4. Kansas City, 3-13 (assuming they lose to Denver) 5. Washington, 4-12 (assuming they lose to SD) 6. Cleveland, 5-11 7. Oakland, 5-11 (assuming they lose to Balt) 8. Seattle, 5-11 (assuming they lose to Tenn) 9. Buffalo (assuming they don't move to Toronto), 6-10 10. Denver (from Chicago), 7-9 11. Jacksonville, 7-9 12. Miami, 7-9 This assumes Miami has the highest opponent win % of the three 7 and 9 teams. I just did that math in my head, counting the wins of each of those three teams opponents and Chicago had 114, Jacksonville 128 and Miami had 141. Give or take a few, that's still the order. It also assumes the other teams tied with 3 wins and 5 wins fall according to that tiebreaking procedure (which doesn't affect where Miami picks, so just for the sake of arguement). 12th it is. (root for the Titans to win at Seattle)
That's the way it looks, depending on Tenn. It is a good position to be in for this year's draft. It is gonna be special.
Thanks for doing that, I was trying to figure that out myself! Should be a good player waiting for us there! We'll need it!
Honestly, im not routing for tenn to win because thats the difference between us playing them or us playing the jags next year and id rather play the jags than have one draft pick higher.
I think of us as the Saints last year and in the draft (disappointing year and a high draft pick but the team was very good just needing those couple pieces). To be picking at 12 we are actually a 20 something pick team.
Do you really believe that? We started, and ended the season on 3-game losing streaks. I think all these close losses and the resiliency that this team showed over the past month and a half gave Dolphin fans an illusion that this team is alot closer than they really are. The fact is, however, that the line between being mediocre/bad and good in this league is very thin -- good teams find a way to win and mediocre/bad teams do not. As Parcells has said in the past, "you are what your record says you are." We're a mediocre football team, at best, and deserve to be picking in the top half of the 1st round.
Healthy, I think we're a 10 win team... give me Ronnie Brown and Will Allen for 16 games and I guarantee you we finish with more than 7 wins.
Yes they can or, a Kindle, a Bowman, or perhaps a Spiller. Maybe a trade down, maybe a trade because of who is available. It is gonna be a GREAT off season.
This. I think this team is a 11-12 win team with those healthy players and another offseason. This team played a brutal schedule and played toe to toe with every team except a couple times. The best teams in the league would have run over Miami two years ago, so this team is far closer to a good team than a bad one. I'm not one to sugar coat my team and see the silver lining all the time...simple fact is that if I think they suck I'll say they suck. However with Miami I don't think that. This team had all the bad luck they avoided last year hit this year and we simply didn't have enough talent to beat it but we had enough to get 7 wins. Do people actually think our 2007 team could have gotten 7 wins with this schedule?...if you do get real...this team is one of the rising teams in the league. Give Miami the Jets final two games and Miami would be talking playoffs right now...its all about breaks. This year we got none last year we got them all. Now the thing is building strong enough where that is not a huge problem. This team sucked in 2004, 2006, and 2007 but this team does not suck now and I don't get the doom and gloom about this team. Just about everything is pointing to a positive about this team and this year we simply were not strong enough to survive the injuries and schedule. Miami is getting stronger (much better than two years ago) and when Miami goes 11+ wins next year I will not be shocked at all. I may be wrong but this is a team on the rise.
With a lot of inexperience on both sides of the ball we not only won a bunch of games but played competitively in the games we lost. We played to the wire with some of the best teams in the league. With another offseason and valuable experience this season for guys like Henne, Hartline, Davis, Smith, etc., and the return of Ronnie Brown, we should easily have double digit wins next season. Easily.
Plus I'll take playing the AFC North and NFC North over playing the NFC South and AFC South. Next year the teams I am worried about are Green Bay, Cincy, Baltimore, and Pittsburgh (maybe Minnesota). This year we had a lot better talent we had to face consistently....TB was the worst team we played and everyone else was 7-9 or better (only Jacksonville was less than 8-8 in that group) . Yep our schedule was that freaking hard. Next year along with easier opponents in the AFC North and NFC North we should also see easier random opponents...Steelers was a real bad draw this year. Overall next year with an easier schedule and a stronger team a 10+ win season seems very likely because how could we regress? I mean other than selling off every good player and calling Al Davis to do the draft I don't see it.
we will have an excellent draft (11 or 12) & spend money on free-agency we will contend in 2010 & be a prerennial contender for a decade
I think we will have a good Shot at drafting Dez Bryant i think that the raiders are going to draft ILB Rolando McClain because 2 of there starting LBs are going to be FA if they dont draft McClain i would kind of be suprised but then again they might go with spiller because of the 40 time
If TEN victory holds....then CHI, JAC, MIA would be rotating between picks #10, #11, and #12 each of the 7 rounds...not to shabby.
I know a lot of people are talking up Spiller but I just don't see it. At least not in Miami. What we need is linebackers, a FS, a TE and a true #1 WR. Spiller would not fit a need position in any way shape or form... (IMHO)
That all depends on if there is a CBA or not, BTW I dont see McClain breaking the top 10 and to be honest the more I see him play the more I seem to be disappointed with his big play ability. If we don't get Dez at 12 I would be inclinded to want to trade down and maybe pickup another 2nd rounder.
the Tennessee win sets our final game for next year. The two games we didnt know about a few weeks ago were the Raiders and Titans games.
To think that we were in the playoff hunt at the end of the year but still have the 12th pick isn't half bad.
Denver gets Chicago's pick wich means considering their problems with Marshall, they could ruin our Dez Bryant hopes.
ILBs are rarely in the top 10, it's just not a core position. To take an ILB that high you have to believe he'll be so good that he'll have more impact than the position usually does. I probably wouldn't take an ILB in the top 10 unless I thought he was going to be a HOF player. But we might have to settle if the core need positions are off the board and we can't trade down.
I just double checked the NFL site for last year based on the group of teams ranging from #12 to #16 all tied at 8-8. The last team in the pack in the 1st round, moved up 1 slot in each round...not last to first. So again, 9 total picks, not including any compensatory 1st #12 in round 2nd #11 in round 3rd #10 in round 4th #12 in round 5th (to KC for Thigpen - #11 in round) 6th (from KC for Alleman/Ndukwe - either #3 or #4 in round ) 6th (from WAS for Taylor -#5 in round) 6th - #10 in round 7th (from KC for our '09 7th - either #3 or #4 in round) 7th - #12 in round
I doubt Spiller will be our pick, and agree on the LB's. Spiller is a special talent but, I believe we will roll the dice again with R & R. I can also see teams wanting to trade up with us.
http://www.nfl.com/standings?category=league NFL has us in the #10 spot in the first round. Not sure if that is accurate.
Nope based on SoS we are #12 (and per your link, when I do the sort, we are #12 too???? - but still dont think it actually is taking SoS into acct) What do you see?
And the speculation on who we will draft/will be available has begun. At least the offseason won't be boring.
yup....thats what I think right now. 9 total picks, not including any compensatory end of rounds 3-7 1st #12 in round 2nd #11 in round (#43 overall) 3rd #10 in round (#74 overall) 4th #12 in round 5th (to KC for Thigpen - #11 in round) 6th (from KC for Alleman/Ndukwe - #4 in round ) 6th (from WAS for Taylor -#5 in round) 6th - #10 in round 7th (from KC for our '09 7th - #5 in round) 7th - #12 in round
outside linebacker that can get to the qb is a glaring need we saw porter get the coverage sack today but ben sat back there for six or seven seconds a woodley on the outside and a ryans on the inside type player we are in dire need of lbs ill have my eye on jerry hughes tomorrow night
in 3rd round & 6th in 1st round and 4th & 7th 9 total picks, not including any compensatory end of rounds 3-7 1st #12 in round 2nd #11 in round (#43 overall) 3rd #10 in round (#74 overall) 4th #12 in round 5th (to KC for Thigpen - #11 in round) 6th (from KC for Alleman/Ndukwe - #4 in round ) 6th (from WAS for Taylor -#5 in round) 6th - #10 in round 7th (from KC for our '09 7th - #5 in round) 7th - #12 in round
Dolphins have #12 Pick in 2010 NFL Draft Per King Florio http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/01/04/2010-nfl-draft-order/ There it is folks. Start your mock drafts accordingly. Should put us in line for either the top WR, NT or ILB. I personally hope McClain gets by Denver.
Honestly, that's really good news for as competitive as this team was all year. Not to mention falling to 3rd in the division puts us at a schedule that hopefully won't be too brutal. Maybe we'll get lucky and polish off some of those northern away games early. And as for the draft, we can definitely address one of our top 3 needs with the #11 pick. And hopefully find a diamond in the rough since we effectively OWN the freaking 6th round with all those picks.
