Miami's impressive rookie linemen are generating buzz around the league. One NFC personnel director watched the Dolphins and asserted they will be a lot better than people think. ''I like Phillip Merling and Kendall Langford a lot -- big, physical, strong guys who play with a lot of energy,'' he said. `` Jake Long will be fine. Donald Thomas has limitations in the passing game, but I like his toughness. He's a mauler.''
The Dolphins continue to shop John Beck and indicated they would like a fourth-round pick in return but are unlikely to get that, an NFC executive said this week.

The quote about our rookies brings a massive smile to my face. I love the fact that this will be the first Dolphins team in recent memory that will be big and physical. No more are the days of getting pushed around on the road, especially late in the season against division rivals.

The Dolphins are reportedly seeking a fourth round pick for QB John Beck.
They might get a conditional pick or a late rounder, but it's hard to believe any team would be willing to give up a fourth for Beck. For perspective, the Browns received a sixth-rounder from the Seahawks for Charlie Frye last September.

yeah i'm with you on that... and i'd still rather keep beck than mccown too... especially given how neither has any trade value.

pennphinfanforum_veteranon the plus side, even if we DO trade Beck and only get a 6th round pick for him (2 things i'd rather not have happen) we may be able to be a bit more confident our FO will actually do something productive with that pick. (See: Thomas, Donald)

Languish is right, did you see his expression on the sidelines last week?
Personally I'd much rather have the draft pick. Parcells & Ireland did an impressive job with this year's draft. One more draft like that and we will be in business again...:up:

brandon27subscriberNice, it sure is nice to hear other teams speaking highly of our OL and DL. Its hard not to start to get a bit excited about the season when you hear other teams saying things like that. However, we all know that. Our OL is solid, they really showed that last week against Jacksonville, and Merling and Langford are only going to get better as this thing drags on.. This rebuilding project sure has come a long way, in a short period of time.
