I am guessing the Dolphins will have no interest either although our WRs have been underwhelming up to this point.

It has been noted that he was not on the same page with Brady and that he often lined up in the wrong position .Not the cerebral type of WR to say the least.Besides he would prove a distraction ala BM IMO.This regime does not need that.

    What do you think .

    Pats release Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson....

ESPN's take on whether or not he would be a good fit in Miami:

I think in the whole scheme of things he would be s good fit. He isn't needing 100 receptions at this point of his career. He can still attract coverages and could free open other receivers as a result. I wouldn't say we he is a #1 receiver coming in, so comparing him to Marshall is not a right comparison. Also, he doesn't have all the off the field baggage that Marshall does (other than his celebrity status and Twitter). Last year, while his stats weren't mind blowing at all, he was able to show that he can be just a cog in the wheel. I don't see where it could hurt bringing him into camp and letting him compete for a spot. Not to mention he would be great for a few soundbytes on Hard Knocks. :tongue2:

With Burress and Edwards still on the mkt, Johnson would make little sense.

If you can't florish with Tom Brady throwing you the ball, sitting behind no name WR's aside from Welker, its not going to happen for you in Miami. I'd pass.

The one thing about Ocho is he can still be productive I think. He only had 15 catches last year but he was over 18 YPC. Most of his struggles were terminology related and not skill related. Id bring him in for a workout and see what hes got left and maybe sign him for an affordable, low risk/high reward type deal.

personally, I think as Chad keeps getting older and his skills keep fading, he's going to keep overcompensating in non-football diva-like ways.
If it was Chad 4 years ago, heck yes. For now, pass.

If they bring in Ocho without any interest in Plaxico Burress, well that's just the kinda thing that will have me sharpening my pitchfork and calling for Ireland's balding head again.

He couldn't learn the playbook in NE and couldn't learn it in Cincy (in the 10 years he was there).

I see no reason whatsoever to bother w/him.

Our WR corps is hideous. I'd bring him in. I like him. The guy once bought thousands of seats in Cincy so the game wouldn't black out and gave them away to fans. He's not a character threat.

In Ochocinco's defense Tom Brady doesnt know how to pass a ball past 15 yards. 85's game was the deep ball imo.

He is not going to be a Dolphin. The only reason why Miami is mentioned is because we have the worst WR corp. in the league. Its gonna happen everytime a half decent WR gets cut.

I don't see Chad as a good fit. I don't think he can be that consistent route runner that Philbin wants at this point. I thought that was his big issue in NE. Brady relied on that timing game and Chad wasn't good at it. I don't see why people think he would get good at it here. I don't see any reason to believe that he's any better than Marlon Moore at this point. In fact, I would rate Moore above him and he's borderline to make our roster.

    Here and there
Two stupid reasons to bring anyone in. What does either of the areas i bolded have anything to do with football? Just because he makes his off season home in Miami it makes him a "natural fit" for the team? How? Yes by all means lets bring a guy in so we can get HBO's ratings up..:pity: Good Lord what has the media become?

I'd rather have Plaxico Burress if we're opening the door to a signing like this. At least with Plaxico I know exactly what he's going to give me, and I know that he's still amongst the best in the league at what he does.

Does the media think Philbin is stupid...

The problem with Ocho is he let go of his aggressive strength training routine when he started doing the reality shown business, which in turn, he lost his strength, and lost some of his size and speed..haven't seen him since last year but as is, he's done.

Another point in Chad's favor is that Miami is perfect for car boats. CAAAAR BOAT! THE BOAT WITH CARS! DUN DUN DUN! CAR BOAT!

Agreed. I can't see a freelancer like Chad fitting in this offense. He's gotten a lot of criticism about his disinterest in learning playbooks, so I just can't see Philbin even entertaining the idea.

I think Hard Knocks is one of the reasons OchoCinco will NOT be coming to Miami. Joe Philbin won't want a guy who only just got here and will have problems making the team essentially trying to steal the Hard Knocks cameras away from everyone else and creating a distraction.

I like OchoCinco. I do. H'e entertaining. However, I don't see him bringing anything to the table for the Phins that outweighs them losing a young value player to develop... like a Rishard Matthews or Jeff Fuller. Personally, I'd rather keep one of those guys and not let '85' turn training camp into a circus via Hard Knocks. After all... the Dolphins are trying to regain 'respectability', right?

At this point what does Plax bring, other than size?

He doesn't have a burst and he doesn't get separation. His lone advantage is his height and he can go up for balls over shorter DB's.

Exactly. Which means he's at least worth something in the Red Zone. Ochocinco isn't worth anything on the field.

I think we have nothing to lose & can only win exploring the possibilities of Ochocinco on a team that has only defined two siarting wr's. there is nothing to lose with this move
