Maggie Gylenhal is ok at best. I dont think Katie Holmes is amazing anymore, but Gylenhal makes her look amazing. Like everyone said, these broads aren't selling tickets or really affecting the movie anyways. I know nobody shelled out 9 bucks for Katie's weird *** in the first one anyways.
I think the end gives a strong hint. I havent seen it yet I dont want to know. Im going to try to make the 11:20 showing. God I hope its not that packed, but I doubt it wont be.
Really I didn't see it. I mean I thought for sure Spoiler 2face was going to be the villain in the 3rd one. Really??? When where! AREGH
For those that went, did your audiences give Heath Ledger's name a standing ovation when it was displayed twice in the end credits? I thought it was very touching. It was real subtle somewhere in the middle and probably nothing but it got a few chuckles in the theater. Nolan's going off of the "Batman: The Long Halloween" comic book series for his inspiration so it'd be a good bet to go off that for the next villain Spoiler or villainess considering the Catwoman is likely the last one standing (the commissioner's name in the movie is the name of Long Halloween's creator ). The "I believe in Harvey Dent" line comes from that also.
I missed it but I ve been reading that Spoiler 2face did not die but was captured and put away and that they made it seem like Harvey Dent died as a hero I'm guessing there will be 2 villains in the next movie.
Maybe he feels like he can't top The Dark Knight. Still you would think he should do it just for the money.
My oldest saw the midnight show last night (she loved it).....I am going with her tomorrow to see it. Looking forward to it.
I'm almost positive that your right and Nolan and Bale did sign a 3 picture deal. I think Bale is signed for 3 terminator movies also.
I just saw it. Fantastic movie. Best Batman movie easily....best superhero movie? also...very easily. Probably one of the best films to come out this decade. It is THAT good.
Move over Spiderman 2. You just got bumped by The Dark Knight. I love Nicholson but Ledger and Nolan's Joker blow him out of the freaking water. Frankly I don't know how you come close to having another villian be half as good as this Joker is. I'm already worried the next Batman movie will be like Spiderman 3. Its such a damn shame Heath can't be here to be celebrated because I think he has deserved all of the hype he has received. As far as where this ranks among movies of all genres, I'm not quite sure yet. I need some time and maybe another viewing (which will probably be this weekend) to rank it among my all time favorites. But I have a feeling its going to be up there towards the top when its all said and done.
For those who haven't seen it, the movie won't disappoint. My expectations couldn't have been higher going in, but they could have been because this is a truly great film. And unlike EVERY other super hero movie to come out before this, I actually deeply cared about what happened to the people who weren't the super heroes, their family, their friends. Even every minor character felt real. And their pain did too. It has the same ingredients as movies like Heat, Silence of the Lambs, Fight Club and even United 93. I'll just speak to a few criticisms that I heard that helped prepare me going in. Be prepared, the movie does feel longer than it's two and a half hour running time. And I'm not quite sure why that is. It isn't slow, it is as fascinating during the quiet scenes as it is during the action sequences. I heard some say that it has multiple endings and I get that, yet unlike Return of the King, every time one of those "I guess the movie could end here" moments happens there are still half a dozen things you know they still have to resolve, and they aren't stalling you in the meantime. And once you get to the end it is all worth it, but it made the opening scene feel like it happened sometime last week. My best guess for why it felt so long is that it was so good and dense, that after watching just 30 minutes of it they've given you more great story than most films achieve in 120. And there are still 120 minutes to go at that point. It was draining. And I would definitely be skeptical about taking anyone under 13, and even adults who are highly sensitive may want to stay away from this. It is frightening.
Is there a chance that Ledger performance was drug induced? I havent heard much about his action and conduct on the set, and the role is receiving much acclaim. I am just asking, and wondering if he is nominated, and as we get closer to the awards, if "other sides" of the story will pop up??? P.S. you guys are really pumping me up and I get to see it today. So looking forward to it!
Maybe Ledger faked his death and is waiting to surprise people with a Joker return in the next film? Its all part of the plan!
Just saw this and what an excellent movie it was. Heath Ledger knocked it out of the park, every scene he was in was amazing. Oh and BTW would anyone like to see the pencil trick?
^ I'd edit that post, huge spoiler in it.....I'd be pissed right now if I had waited until today to see the movie.
Spiderman 3 deserves no records, hopefully DK can keep this pace up. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/box_office_dark_knight
I'd guess no. If he was on something during the filming I'd be even more impressed because the character is so totally aware of himself and others. Its like there is a rationale to the craziness. He isn't one of the typical residents of the hospital in One Flew Over the Coocoo's Nest. He is Nicholson pre-shock treatment X100. I'm not sure how he could pull that off while on something, or at least something strong.
Honestly I do not agree with that. I think Nicholson's Joker was perfect for his movie. I think both of them did amazing performances and both of them totally overshadowed everything. I do think that on a whole Heath Ledger was in a better movie with better characters and a direct that actually understands that Batman DOESN'T KILL. Unlike the old Batman movies where Batman was a killer.
I agree, I think they messed up in the first one by making the Joker the man who killed Batman's parents, that was needless. Two different movies, different Batmans, different Jokers, I appreciate both.
I think the mere fact that people are actually comparing Ledger's performance to that of Jack's is a huge compliment to Ledger. Jack Nicholson is one of the finest actors of our time and to this day epitomized the Joker so well in his movie that no one dared try to redo or remake the movie until now.
Just saw it.....and while I enjoyed it......for me, personally, I thought Batman Begins was better. P.S. off to the spoiler thread, as I was dying to know what it contained prior to the movie.....
