For me it did take a second viewing to better fully realize the themes and some of the details. I enjoyed it even more the second time around and I'm fully prepared to call this a great movie.

I am going to wait until it goes on the 5 buck club at my local theatre and go see it again. I seen it last night at the drive in.

WOW...IMDB now has over 69,000 votes so...it is nearing a pretty solid overall rating.

it now has a 9.6 for #1 alltime.

I'm surprised The Godfather only has a 9.1. As of right now I think I'd have to switch the two, Godfather at about a 9.5 and TDK at about a 9.

I saw today for a second time. I wouldve enjoyed it more if it wasnt for these two jerks who wanted to be part of the show. :pity:

I just wish some of you guys would see Brokeback and then see his performance in The Brothers Grimm. It will show you the depth this man had, and the talent.

IMO he is the best actor since The Baron Olivier.

Here is a clip from The Brothers Grimm. Zip ahead to 8:15 to see some of Heath's brilliant acting

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AY4GLVVXpgg

To think he finished The Brothers Grimm and less than 6 weeks later was filming Brokeback. To be able to change characters like a chameleon like that is a talent many good actors don't even have. They need months if not a year to switch off one character and then bring another to life

Here is a clip of Heath talking about playing The Joker.

I watched Daniel Day Lewis talk about Ledger in that second clip after the Ledger interview and he was right about the last scene in Brokeback Mountain. The movie didn't really pay off for me until that scene. Heath was so shy and reserved throughout the whole movie. He was kind of the typical guy; didn't like to show too much outward affection and didn't want to talk about his feelings. But the way he handled his daughter and what happens when she leaves was strong stuff.

Just watching him speak normally in that interview and then hear him as the Joker or in Brokeback Mountain is amazing.

Its truly amazing what a really talented actor can do and Heath Ledger was one of the rare talents out there that was that kind of Chameleon. I'm glad someone else understood and "got" that last scene in Brokeback, and when he says "Jack, I swear" if you can not feel emotions, even being a he-man macho type, then you are just not human.

That link sounds like wishful thinking more than anything. I wonder how long before filming did they cast Ledger. I bet there was already at least an outline for the script in place. I doubt Nolan has even given it a whole lot of thought.

One thing that studios look to do is capitalize on the hype surrounding a big movie like this by announcing a sequel. The article is definitely 99% wishful thinking, but I wouldn't be surprised if the producers are already approaching someone like Johnny Depp in order to ensure his schedule is clear. The studio will look to get the sequel out by 2010 or 2011, I'm sure they're already pressing Nolan to commit.

i would rather see Depp bring back the Joker, than waste him on a character like the Riddler.

He'd make a good Riddler now that I think about it. I think the article is bs, but if Nolan does make a 3rd, and the Riddler is involved, Depp wouldnt be a bad choice.

IMO alot of people got ruined on the idea of a riddler character because of Jim Carey's terrible cartoon like adaptation of the character. If done right the Riddler could be a great villain.

    Iron Man better than TDK?

    http://www.pajiba.com/the-dark-knight-vs-iron-man.htm

He brings up some good points. And he drinks a lot of whine straight from the bottle. So kudos to that. But I respectfully disagree. I think hype had a lot to do with it. I was nearly blown away with the first viewing of Iron Man. There were no expectations. So it was easy to be surprised. After the first viewing of TDK, I thouht it was very good, not great. I wasn't blown away with anything but Ledger's performance.

But after the second viewing of Iron Man, I didn't get that same sense. It was still a very good movie. I just didn't feel the same satisfaction and excitement. TDK on the other had was even more enjoyable the second time. I walked out of the theater thinking I had just seen a great film.

I agree that Carrey's Riddler was terrible and cartoon like. But I put most of that blame on Joel Schumacher. I think Carrey can be a very good dramatic actor, and even could pull off a great dark character. Unfortunately his Riddler performance was the first in line of a downfall of the franchise, mostly due in part to Schumacher and his ****ty neonistic visions.

I'm not sure if you should take this as a compliment or not...but you write much different than you look. Iron Man has nothing on Batman.
