If I had to roll with Tannehill or Carr I'd take Carr, but given the timing of the situation I really couldn't justify taking Carr after taking Tannehill at #8 overall a couple of years before. It's not like Tannehill was a bust.

Philbin is spineless. Although I believe his claims, as the FO is determined to make RT work, Philbin couldn't coach himself out of a bag. Time for him to move on.

We don't know yet if Philbin was right. It's possible Tannehill didn't progress because Philbin didn't know how best to use/develop him.

Gase was hired to show Tannehill was the right choice. If Tannehill does NOT prove he can succeed with Gase, I don't care what people say the excuses are over: the QB is the problem. But that story hasn't played out yet. Maybe Gase shows us Philbin (and the other coaches) were the bigger reason Tannehill didn't look like a clear-cut franchise QB.

    We'll see..

If this even true, it just points at how Philbin lacked any confidence in his ability to develop talent. I don't believe any of it though tbh.

I'd rather have Tannehill. So it just proves how clueless Joe really was.

Everyone forgets Carr's first season, and only looks at this season.

I think Carr is the better player, but no way should Philbin have been given another QB.

yes we wouldn't have juwan james, but tannehill would have been traded and those picks, or player could be turned into OL.

The HC isn't hired to develop talent, that's what position coaches are there for, and when nearly every player has to be developed, you've got a GM problem.

Finster is 100% correct. It's not like any of these players left the Phins and went on to be great players elsewhere. Not great players in Miami and not great places elsewhere = you drafted poorly.

Carr behind this Oline would not even have looked as good as Tannehill.

we'd have a different ol bc drafts would be different, also we'd be able to trade tannehill for ol or picks to get ol.

Honestly, for me, it shows me how clueless and shady Joe really is. I am excited what Gase can do with Tannehill and I am glad we have someone that wont hold Tannehill back.

Philbin would've been right if he replaced RT or fixed the problems around him.. He did neither!. So tired talking about this guy , especially that he will never be around this franchise again. Good riddance.

If this is true, I'm not sure I can even continue to say "Well, at least Joe seemed like a good person." Joe seems like a guy who threw his players under the bus.

LOL, you mean his rookie season?... in an Oakland offense that had sh** at WR & TE and a beat down MJD at RB? Carr had a pretty darn good season for a rookie regardless of the pig slop around him. No one is "forgetting" his rookie season, but it was his rookie season. It's understood that that's a developmental year.

I was quite impressed with Carr in his rookie season. Had crap to work with and rolled with it, looked talented to me, had a good feel to him.

    O rly?

People around here didn't give Tannehill that. Tannehill has been criticized since day 1. Tannehill was known to need time to develop, and had been surrounded by pig slop for four seasons. Yet many have criticized him for four seasons.

Carr had 5ypa last season. This year he had a great oline, and dynamic weapons. Amazing.

I've got even more respect for Tannehill now, imagine being the focus of the offense, all eyes on you

And everyone in the building knows the Head Coach has -0- confidence in your talent, to me, THill turned a terrible situation into a fairly good one, especially playing behind a dreadful offensive line.

My take on the Carr situation is perhaps he was a good call, the fact he wanted to take him in rd #1 and ignore the leaky offensive line speaks volumes as to what ol' Joe was interested in moving forward, he was practicing CYA.

Wasn't much criticism of Tannehill after his rookie year. Started a little after year 2.

Disagree, Stringer, however, I'm not going to go through 4+ year old threads to try to prove it, though.

Regardless, if "normal QBs" get a pass on at least year one, then Tannehill should have gotten more. My point was, that our fanbase has been unwilling, largely, to make the same exceptions in regards to expectations that they make routinely for almost every other QB in the league. All while basically ignoring the situation that Tannehill has been in for four years.

Philbin is right where he needs to be....at home. You could've put Montana himself behind those horrible lines RT had and he would've been running for his life. And remember when his number one WR weapon was Brian Hartline? Let that sink in....

Philbin traded away Vontae Davis who's turning out to be solid and basically gave away B Marshall for free. His personnel decisions were horrible.

You don't draft a guy with 2 years QB experience in college. Just the FO trying to be cute.
It is what it is though, one more season of him hopefully and Gase can have a say on who he wants.

I've been one of the defenders of Tannehill, feeling the coaching and more so, the game plans were more of the issue than Tannehill's play, but with that being said, if Gase isn't able to produce more offensive points, with better protection for Tannehil, then I will concede that perhaps the issue is with Tannehill.

    If you say so.

Of course, if we hadn't saddled a developing QB with possibly the worst oline in the NFL for four straight seasons, maybe we wouldn't be sitting here with people complaining about Ryan Tannehill.
