Nothing against the OP, but I'm so tired of these threads for and against Tannehill. We get someone who watches a highlight reel each week to share his "expert opinion", then people in turn point out how much of an idiot that expert is. And before you know it, we have this huge argument going on for 18 pages that has nothing to do with football or Tannehill.

It's beyond senseless folks...so Tannehill lied and got caught. That's the least of this team's worries at this time.

He said that he didn't say anything disrespectful to the practice squad players...and then followed that up the next day by saying he's angry that it got out to the media (other players confirmed that he did insult the practice squad and that Philbin told them to take it easy on Tannehill). And of course, the media is blowing it way out of proportion to cause more controversy, which is just plain stupid for a club that's fired two of their main coaches in the last 72 hours.

this topic should not be spilling over into another post....

if this was brady, "hes inserting his role as the leader on this team to the new guys"

if it was rodgers, "practice squad players should not be trying to shine during a walkthrough"

since it was a lesser qb its bush...

    end of discussion.....

I suppose he thinks that our Gs have been guarding their talents just to spite Philbin. Sorry to inform you Mel. They are still here guarding Tanny and for that reason alone he has an excuse. He probably deserves a medal of honor for acts of valor above and beyond the call of duty.:wink2:

What has tannehill done to deserve such hatred by his own fan base?

Everybody talking about a practice they never saw or heard and just assuming the worst.

I like Tannehill generally, but that's a poor defense. Whether or not someone is the best player on the roster at that position shouldn't be a criteria for whether we don't like their play.

So, the way the team around him has played is irrelevant? Have you seen how Luck has played this year? It's ok for him (because he's been to the playoffs in the past) to play like **** behind a terrible OL, but it's not ok for Miami's QB (whoever it may be) to play like **** behind a worse OL?

    Ok... good logic.

This is just the media's "kick them while they're down" approach. There's not one quarterback in the history of football that would be productive behind the Dolphins swiss cheese o line.

Where the **** is this narrative coming from that Ryan Tannehill is making excuses? When has Ryan Tannehill ever made an excuse? I've only seen him accept responsibility for his play. So sick of seeing talking heads like Kiper comparing him to Tom Brady, and making comparisons that shouldn't exist. Neither Tannehill or Brady make excuses.

TBH, Tannehill is playing around the same level he was this time last yr, his comp % is down, otherwise.

Thing with Sports Media types, and why I turned all of that crap off is they thrive on sensationalism and not actual information based analysis, the ultimate "bang the table!" crap.

The crux of the issue is not that Tannehill said anything, it's that the scout team (not the practice squad in particular) was being overzealous in a walk thru on plays THEY KNEW were coming and intentionally jumped routes for easy picks. The Walk thru by my understanding is all for the offense to work on timing and the D is supposed to just give them looks and not disrupt the Offense.

Evidently this type of thing happens periodically on teams and Tannehill is not the only QB to ever get upset by it. I saw a report from Chris Simms and he addressed this. He spoke about the same thing happening to Jeff Garcia in a walk thru when Simms was present. Garcia had all of the offensive players lay back and he thru a gimmie to the guy that was out of control. After he got his "Trophy" Interception, all the offense players gave him a sarcastic clap and a bunch of sarcastic congratulations. Not all that different from Thills response to Chris McCain.

This is far from the perception that it was a normal practice with guys going at it and the poor practice squad guys were being berated for doing their job that was initially reported and is still incorrectly repeated.

There is really nothing here except another example of Coach Philbin not being able to control his players.

It simply doesn't compute with them. We have three horrible offensive linemen and surprise tannehill cant do anything. But apparently there is a magical, mystical universe where qbs throw for 300 yds per game w 4 tds and 0 ints w this kind of oline

I'm behind Tannehill 100%. The media can say what they want. There is no protection and we better run max protection schemes on almost every play to make up for this porous OL.

Anybody who thinks they can accurately assess Tannehill based on what he's dealing with simply doesn't understand the game imo. Brady couldn't deal with the pressure Ryan sees. Manning couldn't deal with it, he might have to retire on the spot.

Some of these guys around here refuse to believe Ryan can do any wrong. Is he in a difficult spot? Yes. But he also is not playing good football along with 10 other guys on offense.

Once again, that's just not true Skip II.

You guys just level the wrong complaints, as usual.

Top 3 things you guys cry about in regards to THill:

    1. Deep ball.
    2. W/L record.
    3. No playoffs.

Skip II and Bayless Bunch, do nothing but harp on these 3 things over and over and over and over. With the typical, "wah, the THill lovers never change, wah" crap interspersed.

W/L record & playoffs are not a QB stat, and the deep ball was not only more a problem with the love of your life Wallace but also playcalling and oline.

Now, you want to talk about pocket presence, leadership qualities, escapability, feeling the rush, etc. you'll find a much better discussion, but whining and *****ing and filling your collective diapers about those three things is stupid and why you get push back. Deal with it or don't...but just stop the blubbering.

I think you're right on all of that but I would also add that he just doesn't have the accuracy when he goes down field. I think the deep ball is a weakness with him.

Here we go again....I havent complained about win/losses or playoffs all be it they mean virtually the same. Even non Dolphins players know his deep ball sucks as much as you do on a Friday night at the Blue Oyster.

My evaluation is based on his ability, not wins or losses. And he has solid intermediate ability but not much else. He needs to improve in many areas because as of now he is a game manager surrounded by all the wrong pieces.
