Anyone else buying this game? Played the open beta a ton this week, and I have to say, the multiplayer is pretty damn fun. It's made by DICE though, so that should be expected. A lot like Battlefield bad company 2 with killstreaks. Should have a great single player campaign also, as MOH games usually do. Not many games take place solely in Afghanistan/Iraq, so should be interesting. Only game I can think of is the ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead expansion. From everything I've seen, the game is very realistic as they used Afghan/Iraq war vets to help with the campaign. For anyone interested, you get $20 off your next game purchase if you pre order on Amazon. Also some new weapons with the Limited Edition.
I wouldn’t say it’s “very” realistic, but it should be a step away from the excessively Hollywood style that Medal of Honor used to be. I’m actually looking forward to this more than CoD: Black Ops. And no, I won’t bother with multiplayer.
ArmA II Operation Arrowhead is the epitome of realistic games now a days. It is actually based on a mil sim that the armed forces today use. As for MOH, it is yet another arcade FPS. There isn't even recoil on the guns. It will be a mix of BC:2 and COD. Not really interested although I may play the single player only for PC if ya know what I mean.
Other way around. The ArmA 2 engine (not the game, just the technology) was adapted for a military training sim. That got misreported as ArmA 2 itself being the training tool.
No games come close to the ArmA/OpFlash series in the realism department. What I meant by realistic, is in the setting, weaponry, etc. At least that's what I'm hoping being they have people who fought helping with the campaign. The multiplayer is a lot like you describe it. Certainly ALOT like BF:BC2, being it is made by DICE. But that's why I'll probably like it so much, I love Battlefield's multiplayer. Huge maps, vehicles, my kind of game, much more so than the fast paced, CQB style of COD.
It's pretty good. Nothing to write home about imo. I'm sure multiplayer will be legit (does DiCE ever fail?). The story is a little too COD-ish imo. It need to try and separate itself.
MOH has always had similar campaigns to COD. At least that's how I recall the older COD/MOH games. But just like COD, not really buying this game for the single player, but for the multiplayer. DICE is the best imo.
The Limited Edition for the PS3 with MOH:Frontline re-done in HD, with the Battlefield 3 beta key, and a DICE online experience is just too much for me to pass up. Throw in the $20 Amazon credit and you have an even better deal. Also the same day as this comes out Alan Wake "The Writer" debuts and Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 1 comes out. Tomorrow is going to be awesome.
What? I thought that was just a leak of some video of it? I assume it is still floating around all the usual places?
nah man the full game leaked. After the leak Sega announced that they were gonna tweak it more and add stuff. Not sure how much new content is in the actual release vs. what was leaked months ago lol
Had this game paid off for months. My pc is currently off, but im still picking it up to run thru single player. Was always a fan of MoH series.
Just beat the single player campaign. Gorgeous environments, more down to Earth missions than CoD4/MW2. But the weapon variety is pretty limited, I didn’t really care about the characters, and like MW2, it ends too suddenly. The game will sink or swim in multi player. I think CoD Black Ops will be a better single player game, and MoH will last longer online.
Depends... Black Ops has COD style multiplayer without all the **** in MW2 (ie. Commando, Danger Close, OMA, etc...). Plus the wager matches look pretty badass. It's going to be hard to topple COD in any phase.
I don't like the campaign as much as I did MW2. I don't care for the characters either. It just doesnt every give me a "wow" factor. Probably because everything it does has been don't in MW2 with more bang. I haven't beaten it but I can't see there being much left. The environments do look amazing... But again, due to it taking place mostly in Afghanistan desserts, nothing looks new. Invisible walls are very obvious and annoyed the crap out of me. MW2 hid them much better. Sorry about all the comparisons to MW2 but it's inevitable. That's the IP they're going after so that's what they have to deal with. I have not played it online but I'm about 95% sure that it will blow MW2 out of the water in that department. As for Black Ops.... Meh.
Just beat it. I didnt care for it too much. The last few levels are really boring for my play style because its endless waves of enemies. I hate levels like that... If there was 6000 Taliban troops behind that ridge, why did you send out a manageable 6-9 at a time allowing a 4 man squad to kill them all? It just felt boring to me. ok, Boring is a harsh word. It was fun... Just not an MW2 killer (not the campaign imo). And then it just stops and it's over and they try to make you have feelings for someone that you know nothing about. There's tons of easy achievements and a really cool message to spec ops servicemen.
Been playing multiplayer the last couple hours, absolutely love it. DICE never fails, this game is no different. Blows MW2 and BF:BC2 out the water. A little more fast paced than DICE games usually are, but not as fast paced as COD. Maps are still fairly big. Not nearly as big as usual BF maps though. Offensive Killstreaks are pretty good. There's 7 of them, only got to use 4 as I used my strafing run right as the game ended. They work very well. Predator Missiles are much more deadly than they are in COD. Weapons seem pretty balanced, the 2nd tier snipers (M24 and SV-98) own. I keep seeing the word "COD Killer" thrown around. Infinity Ward/Treyarch has always been DICE's ***** from a gameplay standpoint as far as I'm concerned. But with this game being more CQB/fact paced oriented than normal DICE games, I can certainly see it being popular among COD's core players. I highly recommend this game to anyone who likes multiplayer FPS games.
I've only played the campaign a little, so I hope I'm not that far along. I do like certain aspects... running and then crouching behind something gives a nice sliding affect that either I haven't seen before in the FPS games I've played or have been too busy to notice. That part takes a little while getting used to, if you time it wrong, you go sliding out into the open, I can only imagine how hilarious that looks in the multiplayer.... I do think that visually, it's easier to hit people than games I've played previously. I do like the coordinated attacks in campaign with the other 3 guys in your team, they seem to be more intelligent and actually kill people.
