It's so strange being in control of the #1 seed and not having to look around at every other team and who we need to win or lose. I've made a thread like this every year though so it only felt right to do it again this season. Currently, Miami has a 98.6% chance of making the playoffs and a 95.2% chance of taking the AFC East. With a 3-game lead over the Bills, it's almost impossible for them to catch us. Games of note for this coming week (in order of importance): Rams at Ravens (go Rams!) Bills at Chiefs (go Bills!) Jags at Browns (sorry Trevor, go Browns!) The Jags have to be reeling and Trevor Lawrence only has a sprained ankle, so it would be great if the Browns can pull this one off before T-Law is back to his prime. The Bills at Chiefs...clearly we want the Bills to lengthen the gap from KC, but we're okay regardless of how those chips fall. We mainly want the Ravens to lose so our match-up is less important (it's colossal regardless). That's all I've got this week- go Fins!
I used to feel really bad for the Browns and would root for them, but that all went out the window once they vastly overpaid for Watson. If they were still riding with Mayfield then I'd still be cheering them on from a distance. I just hate DeShaun Watson that much.
Nah I’m not cheering for the Jills thanks. Don’t want to see them in the playoffs at all. Just one of those matchups… they have had our number in recent years. Plus there are so many mediocre teams that could get a wildcard spot over the Jills. There are other ways we can finish with a better record than the Chiefs. Go Chiefs!
It is a lot more fun being a fan rooting for the #1 spot in the AFC than hoping for a playoff spot then wishing for any given Sunday 4 times in a row.
I saw Lamar Jackson didn't practice today because of an illness. If he doesn't practice tomorrow either I don't think he will play Sunday.
Here’s a fun little tidbit… The last time the Miami Dolphins were the number 1 seed for the playoffs in week 14 was December 1990. My source’s mathematically differ a bit from Key’s but… Miami has a 99% chance of making the playoffs. Miami has a 98% chance of winning the division. Miami has a 37% chance of being the number 1 seed and 1sr round bye. Miami has a 15% chance of making the Super Bowl. And there are STILL 5 games left in the season. This is utterly insane!!!
Definitely. The time between Christmas’ seems to get shorter each year. My oldest kid just turned 18 this week and I can still remember the day they were born like it was yesterday.
We're going to play more than 5 more games this season. We're making the playoffs! And if things work out right.. another 8 more games (or 9 more if we don't get the #1 seed). That's half a season!
Yeah, but he's done for the year so you can root for them again. I get it though. My wife, her dad, and her mother are all from Cleveland. I've been to that city many many times over the years and their fans are absolutely die-hard devoted all the way. It's just so hard not to embrace that. I even went to their practice facility one year and it was as throwback as it gets. We literally parked, got out, walked through a downtown neighborhood and at the end of the street was this schoolyard looking practice facility building with a field and the players. It was like being in a park and watching a pickup game. So cool. Any time the Browns are in the mix, I root for them. Deshaun being there is whatever at this point. It's not my problem as a Miami fan.
Rams at Ravens (go Rams!) Bills at Chiefs (go Bills!) Jags at Browns (sorry Trevor, go Browns!) Definitely need these to go this way. Rams/Ravens you just never know with either of those teams. I do have a feeling that the Rams are about to go on a run and win some games. They look like a team that could get hot before the postseason and sneak in and possibly make some noise. They can get that started by beating the Ravens. Bills/Chiefs...I truly am starting to hate both of these teams. It gets worse every year. I want to see Buffalo lose every week, but I would like to wrestle away the 1 seed from the Taylor Swift Chiefs, but I'm not sure that will ultimately matter in a playoff setting. There's a big part of me that feels like the Chiefs are already written in for another Super Bowl. As much as I loathed the Tom Brady Patriots, I think I hate the Chiefs more. Taylor Swift/Travis Kelce just adds a cherry turd on top of a turd cake already being baked. Jags/Browns...I'm a Browns fan when Miami isn't playing, so I'll always pull for Cleveland to win games. This is just extra for us because they'd be doing us a favor by beating the Jags. Joe Flacco looked pretty good last week so maybe they'll stick with him. With their defense, they're never out of a game either.
My youngest turned 36 in September and I can see remember him taking his first breath like it was yesterday. Cherish the moments. They fly by so quickly.
Mahomes's obnoxious brother and wife made me hate KC. Taylor Swift and Mr. Pfizer made it even worse. I want to destroy KC in Miami.
As much as I despise the Bills, they need to pull off the upset to give Miami a cushion. Can the Rams do the seemingly impossible and defeat the Ravens at home? With Trevor Lawrence’s ankle in question, will the Jaguars be able to topple the seemingly surging Browns? These are really the only games I see this week as potentially meaningful to the Dolphins.
Dolphins' fans keep saying that, but I will tell you right now in front of God and everyone, that if the Bills win today, they're going to be playing us that last Sunday in Miami for the division.
Such high confidence for a barely .500 team who could easily be 4-8, with a deteriorating locker room and head coach situation. And, such low confidence for the best Miami Dolphins team in decades. Let's go, Rick. Wake up!
Not speaking for him, but I don't blame Dolfans for having a trauma response to positive developments. I can't lie and say that I wouldn't be surprised to find out none of this season is real and I'm just being Punk'd. Why would things get better now?
Too many differences between this team and last 20 years. - This is now the 4th consecutive year with a winning record. Last time was 2003 - This will be the 2nd year in a row we make the playoffs. Last time was 2001 - We are #4 in point differential (and lots of comfortable wins). Last time was 2002 - We have the #2 offense. Last time we were top 5 was 1993. - We have a franchise QB. Last time was Marino. No, there's no valid reason to think this is just another repeat of previous years.
Wow.. Bills are +1.5 against KC and Cleveland is favored -2.5 against Jags. Not sure if Rams can beat the Ravens (Rams are +7.5 underdogs), but we might get some extra cushion today for that #1 seed.
It doesn't take low confidence in the Dolphins to recognize that Josh Allen can take the Bills team on his back and drag them to the playoffs.
They easily could have won all the games they lost too. Nobody should really look at them like a 6-6. There is a reason KC is only favored by 1.5 vs them in KC.
Well, Jax is going to lose. Ravens just won in OT in dynamic fashion (punt return with 5 missed tackles). We're 1 for 2 on the day anyway.
All games this week have gone our way thus far except the Ravens. Houston, Indy and Jags lose + Pitt losing earlier. So we're 4 out of 5. Problem with the Ravens is we need them to lose twice out of Jax, SF and Pitt for us to gain a game on them, assuming we lose when we play them. I guess we'll just have to take care of business ourselves when we play them lol. Buffalo up 7-0.
Yup, all we need to do is win and the rest doesn't matter. It would be nice for KC to drop another one, and Jax should be far enough back to not be a threat to the #1 seed. With Baltimore, we just beat them and the matter is solved- nothing else needed.
Really thought the Rams were gonna pull off the upset when they scored with 11 seconds left. Terrible coverage by the punt team.
The Bills can't start playing desperation/playoff football now and keep it up for the next five weeks. It takes a big toll on the brain and body. I would not be surprised to see them have a let-down game against the Cowboys after soundly beating the Chefs this week. In any event, Miami just has to stay winning and things will be fine.
