PFT reports that the Falcons will name Matt Ryan thier starting Quarterback. This was some what expected after Ryan was impressive throughout the off-season and pre-season. He has looked good in the games he took part in. He played the Titans defense in the last pre-season game and did a good job. We'll see how he holds up behind the offensive line. They have Sam Baker, who they moved up in the first round in the draft, starting at Left Tackle. I believe Justin Blalock is their LG, whose another young guy in his second year. The offensive line this pre-season has looked pretty good though. They held up well against the Titans and have opened up some nice holes for Michael Turner. Ryan still has Roddy White so he has some weapons.
With everyone always aiming to let rookie QB's sit on the pine, this is a nice change of pace. I hope Ryan does well in Atlanta and he could be a hit out of the gates.
Yeah. Honestly, I really didn't think high of him coming out. I thought he would be an average QB. he has looked good throughout this off-season like I said earlier. Hopefully he proves me wrong because it would nice to see a guy succeed at his first opportunity.
I liked Matt Ryan. I think he's a Chad Pennington type of QB. I think he'll turn that franchise around. I'm still happy with the trio of Jake Long, Philip Merling, and Chad Henne though.
Its a good situation I think, there really isn't any expectations for Atlanta to win anything so why not play Ryan and let him learn the positon?
I look at him as another Matt Schaub. The Falcons have basically come full circle for the price of two 2nd round picks and their #3 overall pick this year. They're doomed, like FedEx commercial actors. Also, Sam Baker is the starting left tackle? What? Ryan is going to get killed, Troy Aikman-style.
