Ouch Source: Howard Balzer on Twitter Guess we'll have a really good idea where our secondary is at by the end of the year.
To be fair...I am not looking forward to the first pats game. Billicheat and Nancy brady are prolly drooling to decimate the Hello Kitty out of our pass D. I'm already stock-piling the beer to drink the sting out of that one. And I am even one of the positrons here...
Sheesh, someone keep Ireland away from the check book! Upside is, now we see what Carrol and Wilson have, truth be told Carrol played fairly well vs the Colts.
Broken record grade: A he wasn't making a huge impact anyway. We'll be okay as long as Carroll stays healthy.
To be fair, Marshall hadn't missed a game since arriving in the NFL. You cannot predict injuries in most cases.
The Dolphins have also reportedly claimed cornerback Brandon McDonald off waivers from the Buccaneers. McDonald has played in eight games for the Bucs this year, starting twice and snaring one interception. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/category/rumor-mill/ Don't really know anout this guy.
clearly Jeff Ireland should have anticipated that Marshall would have gotten injured given his relatively CLEAN injury record. I mean it was only a matter of time right? /sarcometer has struck
He also should have anticipated Chad Johnson getting arrested despite his clean criminal record as well. smh
Marshall has NEVER missed a game before this season? Man, that is some bad luck. Time for the youngsters to step it up. This is their shot.
Wait....Ok, so not all his picks have panned out, but you can't blame him for injuries.... Either way, it isn't like losing Marshall is going to dramatically change the outcome of the season anyway....
No reason for me not to believe he would have been our best corner, like he was from 2009 through 2011.
Aside from pissing off the new HC by acting immature while not playing very well? Both are pretty good reasons to not be the best corner on your team.
we have been playing him out of position imo, never a boundary corner , slot maybe ?? free safety yes!! , lets hope they try him there next year we do need a better player than clemons!
in regards to Vontae, just because you get benched in camp/preseason doesn't mean you can't have a good season or use the demotion as motivation to earn your starting job back. sean smith got benched for jason allen in his 2nd season, but he outplayed him on Sundays and got his starting job back. Hartline got benched his 2nd year for Bess. Vontae could have easily outplayed Marshall early in the season and strengthened our secondary, hell it's not like Richard Marshall was even playing well, he was actually pretty bad. and in this era your 3rd corner is almost as valuable as your 2 best corners with how often all 3 of them see the field anyway.
....and when he was benched last year for showing up to practice drunk/hungover and not allowed to travel with the team? What about that time? It seems as though you're confusing some minimum-waged mall job with that of a "supposed" professional being paid millions.
Am I going to blame Irleand for Marshall getting injured? Nope. Am I going to blame him for only having one impact free agent on the roster? You bet. Let's let this guy have another crack at free agency and see what happens. (I can do sarcasm too.) Flame away.
I don't agree with that either. He was a decent starter and played up to what we could reasonably expect Vontae Davis to provide.
If you're looking to fill important positions via free agency, spend more money there in an ordinary offseason than keeping the guys you have on your roster (that you drafted), you're not going to last very long in the NFL as a GM. It's funny because the Eagles... usually a team that didn't spend a lot of money in free agency, up until a couple years ago... well, how are they doing?
Considering that he cant go five seconds without getting a PI flag thrown his way, then yeah he sucks.
