Yep. I like the weapon aspect a lot, but only the ones that take skill or strategy. The 10th place guy getting a magic turtle shell that screws over the 1st place guy is a bad idea. Happens quite a bit too, don't know how many times I've been hosed out of 1st place by those things. I haven't played online yet but I can imagine its even worse there.
Man, there are a ton of great games out there. I recommend Super Mario Galaxy, Wario Ware, and Super Paper Mario. (Zelda too, but I figured that was a given). I've played Mario Party (It's Mario Party, if you've played one before, you've played this one). I also liked Excite Truck (I'm going to try it out with the wheel this weekened), and Resident Evil 4. I've got Super Smash Brothers, but I haven't gotten all the way through it or played it enough to really develop a complete opinion on it. I picked up Mario Kart and an extra wheel thingie today. Loving the game so far, I especially like the updated retro tracks.
Got hit with a blue turtle shell twice in the same match tonight. Still won though. Another thing I don't understand about battle mode is the scoring. I'm at about 7200 pts right now. Its really hard to get many points anymore though. I consistently have the most coins or hits but it gives the rest of my team more points for doing less. And when I have an off game and my team loses I lose a huge amount of points.
