i read on the NFL network ticker earlier that former kicker olindo mare would be visiting, i didnt see it posted yes i am sure i read this even after the screw up yesterday lol
He better not be kicking field goals if he comes here. I'd be okay bringing him in for kick off purposes.
it was on the NFL networks ticker at the bottom under the AFC category it said "former saints kicker to visit dolphins thursday" i am pretty sure it was thursday if not tomorrow
thats what i was thinking when i saw it and then i thought he can kick off really well and maybe thats why he would come back
I rather have Feeley. Like you guys said though, I would bring him in for kickoffs but do you really want to waste a roster space on an extra kicker?
thanks but i would love to see mare come back and just kick off he has been one of the best at doing it for some reason he lost his accuracy
Maybe he forgot something in his locker. Seriously though, I hope we do not sign him. I for one am agreeing with the youth movement and hope we continue that pattern
Yea that is a roster spot we could use for some thing else and we need it but if we have an extra one and spent it on Olindo Mare only foe kickoffs I would not mind
Olindo was a huge assest on kick offs but just couldn't convert when we needed him to. But I thought Feeley was pretty good last year - correct me if I'm wrong as I didn't get to see many of the games last year but I thought he had one of the highest % for FG's in team history? and it was the coverage teams poor play that forced us to squib everything?
exactly, Why sign another kicker when we already signed Rayner who is potentially the same thing as him.
I'm not sure how I feel about that. When he was here, he was seriously hampered by an injury that he never seemed to recover from.
Rayner did average 7 more yds per kickoff last year than Feely(only one game for Rayner), and career less than 2 yds. difference, other than getting Rayner for less money, I don't see why he would even be considered. I think Feely's accuracy should count more for me.
If they're bringing in Mare after he was booted by Mueller, thats more proof how awful he was at building the special teams roster.
If you guys have not noticed our new regime is doing everything it can to improve special teams. If this means carrying 2 kickers and have one (Mare) only do kickoffs then I am all for it. We will still not be a GOOD team next year but if we can be middle of the pack on D and not in the bottom quarter on offence we will make up for some of this by having a top 5 special team unit
Ha ! I'd laugh my butt off if we re-signed Mare...I'll say again what I said when we signed Feely...we got the same guy, except a little younger...not cheaper, not much better, just a little younger... Feely has done fine. His mouth may be what is getting him in trouble with the FO, but someone will take his place, so what is the point ??
