Traded Anthony Gonzalez for Vernon Davis (I had Zach Miller so I was f'ed) Then in another league: Traded Roddy White for Cotchery and Nate Washington. Pretty happy with both.
LOL then cotchery goes and strains a hammy in practice today and is questionable for mondays game. Sorry bud, but I wouldnt like the Cotchery deal even if he was healthy. The other one isnt bad but depending on your record I may have waited for Gonzalez to get healthy and tried to find a favorable matchup with the TE's on waivers
Cotchery is 5th in PPR right now. Roddy White is 44. I don't need to start Cotchery this week (only 4 starters between Rbs and WRs. Cotchery has a waaay better schedule going forward. White has a tough schedule and is getting vultured horribly by Gonzo. Plus I get Washington who's looking like the #1 in Tenn.
Its not about right now, its about going forward. Cotchery just fell to #2 on his own teams depth chart after Edwards and because of Whites schedule he will be put in situations where he has to throw more. Plus youre putting your hopes on a rookie QB in the cold weather down the stretch where as Ryan is a little more experienced and plays most of his games in a dome or decent enough weather. I like Washington more then Cotchery going forward to be honest
Cotchery is still the #1 in NY, regardless. He's the guy who Sanchez trusts. I don't see Braylon and his bricks for hands endearing himself to Sanchez very quickly. I def don't see him stepping in and learning the system very quickly either. Plus, Cotchery is a possession receiver and would be the guy who catches a lot of short passes when the weather turns ugly. Washington is looking very promising. 3 Tds in the last 3 weeks and Justin Gage is dropping a ton of passes.
With the emergence of Garcon, trading Gonzalez is a good move. Vernon is looking like his Maryland self this year. I was beginning to think he was a bust. I'm ok with the other trade as well. White is on pace for 80 rec, 635 yds, 4 tds. That doesnt live up to his name. But its better than Greg Jennings, who is on pace for 44 rec, 960 yds, 4 tds. Whats wrong with these guys? At least you picked up some guys who are actually producing.
There's just too many other options in Indy. Plus, Gonzalez' knee injury is something that will linger all season. Def not worth keeping him around for another month + and hope he produces. Jennings problem is the OL. Rodgers doesn't have the time to get the ball down the field. Picked up Finley and he should be nice going forward. White is getting thrown to, but isn't getting those big plays or redzone action.
I think the first trade is a good one as I believe Gonzalez is really not worth waiting around for. The second one though I do not like. Atlanta has only played three games and looked okay in all of them offensively. I suspect that their early bye will help them work out any of the kinks and you'll see better production from White.
Cotchery is not a guy who racks up the RAC yards so catching shirt passes is meaningless unless hes catching about 10+ per game like Welker does or Royal did today. Remind me again after White's performance today how trading him was a good idea Washington hasnt looked bad but hes going to possibly be relying on Vince Young after Tennessee plays NE next week and likely goes to 0-6. That would scare me poopless Once Gonzalez comes back Garcon goes to 4th on the depth chart imo behind Austin Collie who is born to be a slot receiver.
Did either of you watch that game? White made a few nice catches, but the majority of his huge game was awful/blown coverage by the 49ers. If you leave anyone open by 10 yards, theyre probably gone. I really don't feel too bad about that.
He made plays but it was more like Clemons gambled the whole game and didn't win once. And Boik, I'll take a guy like Cotchery who puts up 10-20 in PPR every week. Consistency is huge.
