There's no set date for them. We'll get another one before the season starts, after the 53-man rosters have gone final, I'm sure.

I never have problems kicking field goals, just make sure when your kicking that ur moving the analog stick straight up and down, if you move it slightly in either direction it can mess up the kicks big time. Other then that i don't know why you would be having problems

I cant for the life of me figure out why you are having problems with FG's and Extra points. I feel like i can kick in Madden blindfolded. Are you looking at the wind when you kick too? I find the wind never seems to factor into a kick in the game until it gets close to the uprights... Which I guess makes sense... Thats the point in the kick when the wind is affecting the ball most since the ball's travel speed has slowed down alot by the time its that far down field... moving more slowly, more easily affected by wind...

check that out... other than that... I have no other way of explaining your problems. Thats the first time I think i've heard a kicking complaint about a recent madden game

TheAnswer solved the mystery. When you pull and push the kicing meter, it has to be in the the middle. If I push it up and to the right (what I was doing) then the kick will push right.

I wish I'd of known that.. Never that way for the xbox. Oh well. Live and learn.

My new gripe: Linebacks who jump like DB.

A LB covering my RB on a wheel route.

I use a TE on a post. At some point the TE breaks open, I pass and that LB jumps five yards back, 20 yards high and picks it off. I was literally wide open.

Now, I have a tendency to thread the needle which is often disastrous (you really do have to be patient , unlike older madden's. It's hard to break the habit).

But he was wide *** open and this LB came from nowhere like Superman...

    /endrant

The game has it's flaws, but I'm having some fun now. If I can chill out and scan the field, I'll be OK. I'm really more of a runner, but I suck at running in 09. especially online where the tiny amount of lag delays my RB from using highlight stick/spin/stiff arm/etc...

You know what works great (at least in my one game I used it)? Hot Route - Smart route. I burned a guy deep twice with it (one for a 33 yard TD which ended up being a game winner: 14-10)

I'm struggling on two fronts now (not counting running). 1)Blitzing- Just can't seem to get sacks on a consistent basis and 2). Picking up the blitz.

    9-12 (should be 11-10) online

Oh, and the camera angle. Why is there only two options? where's widescreen???

If you're playing against a man-zone combo, and your WR are running outs and comebacks it's impossible to see that unless you scramble to the outside. If the guy is covered you've cut off half the field.

Running tips... Over at operations sports there's a thread about running. They say using the d-pad is a good trick.

I think of all the bull crap in this years madden, the running out of bounds thing bothers me the most.

I play more Superstar than anything. and very regularly, my teammate catches a ball and runs out of bonds for no reason.

YES!!! I play as Kevin Smith and atleast 5 times a game they call a PA where the FB catches it and runs straight out of bounds for a 3 yard loss. It pisses me off everytime

Trades in this game are absolutely ridiculous. You can offer up Patrick Cobbs for LaDainian Tomlinson and it'll get done without incident.

But what really bugs me is EA's insistence on maintaining a minimum amount of player per position. If I try to edit a player's profile (say, Donald Thomas) so that he plays RG instead of LG, the game whines that I only have one LG left on my depth chart. Say what? I'll move someone there, EA! Stop holding my hand and preventing me from efficiently and quickly tailoring my roster--especially since you don't have a damn clue who lines up anywhere on this team.

I know i your just in the Roster (not the franchise) You can trade anyone for anything.

Also I have another gripe. My bro just finished his first year and Dallas drafted James Laurinaitis and didn't have any cap room to sign him so he and several other 1st round picks sat in FA.

I think we can safely conclude that EA Tiburon is staffed by incompetents. That or they know they can put anything out the door and it'll sell millions. :pity:

More like it. This game has the quality that I would have expected from an early demo/beta; I'm shocked that they even shipped such an utter piece of crap. :pity:

This is my first next-gen Madden and I am wishing that they could just make the PS2 version, add in the extra features, and just spruce up the graphics instead of whatever they are trying with the actual game engine.

I'd be curious to know how many true football fans they have involved in the game.

They should have 100 hardcore NFL fans in the room before development begins, bouncing ideas around so they get all the minute details correct and then have that same panel reviewing the game at each stage.

There are so many little things with the game that can be nitpicked and there really is no excuse for it.

I bought this over the weekend and gave it a very quick go. My first impressions (which I'm sure will change in time the more I find that limits and irritates me) are as follows...

Tick – Visually, EA may have outdone themselves here, they may have actually lifted a finger over the past year. Well done EA cupcakes all 'round, and what the hell add some sprinkles. There's some work that's been done here, or at least tried to be done so the fact that they finally attempted something for the first time in years for me gets them a tick.

Tick – I didn't complete my fantasy draft as I had to go out but I don't seem to have to wait for other teams to pick. Is that a jelly bean I see on top of your cupcake? Good work.

Huge tick – Bye-bye "unbiased" radio guy, how can he be working for the flagship radio of the New York Jets yet call the 'Phins the good guys?... Must be cause they were winning . You don't get anything for this EA, it should never have been a feature.

Huge tick – As far as I've heard it is bye-bye to Mr Faulk also. No more unrealistic game calling. I like being the underdog thank you very much beotch. Stop ruining it for me. Nothing for this either EA, you know why.

Tick – Getting back the ability to swap guys positions is all so important for me so that gets them another tick but a huuuuuge :pity: for taking it away in the first place. Still unsure why players are not completely customisable :confused2:. Add a plastic cup of soda to that sprinkled, jelly bean cupcake.

Cross – I like making custom teams so the consistent, severe lack of realistic logos to choose from pisses me off. At least let me upload my own stuff. Bad EA, I hope that cup of soda doesn't spill on your way back to your cubicle.

Cross – Why the blue tint over the custom uni workspace? How am I supposed to get the colours right doofus? Oh, sorry that we only had black jelly beans left.

Cross – I want BOTH home and away classic uniforms, why only have home? :confused1:.... Well? Sorry, you don't even get a black one.

Cross – Pre-roster update download... Dear EA, that was a pathetic attempt. Why not just put everyone in FA? Oh that's a shame that your cupcake was on your chair and now is on your pants.

Should have never been missing – OMG, shock, horror, the phins have a white on white uni, I never thought I'd see the day  Ok, you can have the jelly bean back.

I haven't attempted a proper franchise yet so I am eagerly awaiting what happy little surprises await me there.

Overall, so far I'm content with what I've seen. I'm not complaining like I was the last few years. But then maybe that's just because my expectation level has dropped

When you are on the screen to start a game (you know where you pick whether you want to be the home or away team) just hit square (on the PS3) for advanced options. Then you can choose your uniform.

    Here are my thoughts.

Now I was one of those creepy Madden Maniacs during college, especially after stop playing ball. I've been "out of the game" for a few years. I think I last played Madden 05, a little of 06.

The game has changed a lot since then. It's much more difficult, but crappy players still find a way to "ruin" the game. Everyone looks for the ultimate sim game, and when players take advantage of doing things and doing them over and over and over it really ruins the game. Then I hate the argument of "well stop it". Well, I'm nice enough to use "my" team the Miami Dolphins against your Patriots, so I'm already at a disadvantage. Then I user something to stop it and you find something other way to misuse the game. Ahhh, it really grinds my gears.

    But on to the gameplay.

I was a huge franchise guy and I hate the franchise this year. I don't know if it's because everything is new, or what. I loved seeing the Progression every 5th and 13th week. I like the attributes. I think that's cool. But it's annoying to have to either train or simulate those things every week. It's like recruiting in NCAA. However the "idea" of recruiting is much more fun. The one thing I think is really cool though is that it seems like the guys' salaries are correct and the salary ranges to get guys and the reasons they want to sign is cool. That might have been there last year, but again, I didn't play on last years.

I LOVE the running. Finally! It allows players who use their blocks rather than some dumb highlight stick to break big runs and to be effective. Also, you can't just chill on the sprint button the whole time. That really screwed me up at first, because if don't do it like everyone else online, you'll get owned--or at least that was the case.

Passing is difficult. I HATE how when you run a hook, hitch or comeback, they keep coming back. It annoys the hell out of me. Just some of the reactions are after the catch are ridiculous.

The playbooks SUCK, they're all the same. Half of the fun was using different playbooks. However, I love how they have plays where guys automatically go in motion. I think that is great. I love plays where guys come in motion and go across the field or behind the OLine etc. it's great.

Online Play-- (I know this is long, sorry). It's pretty good. I guess it's still cool to take a fast QB, run outside the pocket and chuck it deep? They just need to make the probability of that play being run less successful. Or have QB's get hurt more often or something. I run CB blitzes, I run spies, I manually use somebody. I do it all and still sometimes it works. I hit stick, I strip and it doesn't stop. It's annoying.

I'd love to see EA have some type on thing on their scouting report which allows you to be able to tell if they do that.

All in all, I really like the game. It gets me ready for football and my competitive juices flowing.

Is it just me, or is it very difficult to break off long runs in this game? I've had decent-sized holes where a linebacker would fly across the screen in a flash and tackle me, resulting in a 4 yard gain at best.

Which I am still playing more of because of Online Dynasties.

I think I am going to wait until the next roster update to start my franchise for good. (Maybe not, who knows).

I still have to try head coach though.

He's still on the Jets on the game. If you dont have the option to go online you are going to have to manually do things. If not go to play a game online and it should automatically update the rosters, which you can save.

As long as you can play online matches, should be no worries. I bought the 360 version because of it being in 1080p and realized I needed Live Gold to update rosters online. That's as far as I can figure for the PS3.

I am pretty sure that only 720p is supported but maybe that is just for the PS3.

Just checked and yes it does support 1080p on the 360. Looks like EA is still too friggin' lazy to work on the PS3. The good news for me is that I have a small HDTV so it makes no difference if it supports 1080p or not since it will still look like 720p but still. Shame EA. :pity:

720p is supported and also I was used to the 360's controls in terms of football anyways. But why go 720p when you can go 1080p? :wink2:
