Also, am I the only idiot who is absolutely horrible against the pass? I'm all madden across the board, but all pro against the pass. I'll get 1 or 2 sacks per game if lucky, but aside from that, I don't even get pressure in on the QB.

 

WTF! Blame the NFL, they are the ones who locked up exclusivity! It was going to be exclusive to one developer one way or another, whether 2k sports or EA. ***** to the NFL, don't buy from EA, or get money together to buy out the exclusivity, but don't ***** about EA punishing you when it is the NFL's fault.

2K wasn't light years ahead of Madden, I bought both and I preferred Madden. I know others are die hard 2K fans and that's fine... I only bought 2K because it was 20 bucks and if it were 60 bucks, I would have had no intentions of buying it.

 

I was only a fan of the 2k series on the dramcast. That was one of the best football games ever. When they made the move to ps2 and xbox madden just took off and left 2k in the dust. 2k makes the best basketball games though IMO.

 

I cant run the freaken ball. try pounding it up the middle and defense just collapses all over me try to bounce it outside and there are corners or DEs there to just pull me down.
season total through 7 games Ronnie Brown 313 yards on 112 attempts for 2.7 avg 44yards a game. He has a low attempt total because I find myself abandoning the run due to ineffectiveness.

 

what i do is i just keep pounding the ball and eventually towards the end of the game, the D gets tired and i start breaking off 10+ yard gains.

 

I still blame both. NFL shouldn't have offered exclusivity and a big corporation with a history of uninspired products should not have won it. And of course, I'm currently speaking as a gamer not as a stockholder (because then I'd be doing somersaults and indeed I have sold off stock and made a sizable profit). Honestly, I still feel that without competition, EA just doesn't have the incentive to put out a competitive product. Is it any wonder the last good Madden was 05?

The DB's this year are good. Leigh Bodden kills me when I play against Detroit. SOB took a pick to the house in overtime against me.

 

Well, I do note that it's an improvement but it's an improvement that should've happened in the last year's version.

 

So what MAdden fan boys always say "this years madden is the best" Whats your point?

Madden will always be a average game, this year they finally have a great passing system other than that is crap. I don't know how people can fool themselves into thinking Madden is so great.

 

Just because I think it's a fun game doesn't mean I fooled myself. It just means we have different taste. I'm not an EA fanboy (Madden is their only game I have pretty sure) but I think they do well on Madden.

For example: I think Halo is boring. I understand a lot of people think it's like the greatest game ever though, we just have different tastes. For what it's worth 2008 on PC SUCKED Madden wise.

 

I think most of the people that love it are noobs or have it on the PS2/Xbox or the last gen systems that don't have the supposed upgrades the PS3/360 versions have.

 

I never said Madden wasn't an average game (I do think it is quite above average though typically).

And typically "all around" each new madden is the best yet, though some features may regress from one year to another, overall the product is much better.

I don't know how you can think 2k is so much better than Madden, they both have always had big flaws. It is all preference.

You don't like it, fine. Don't play it, play an above average or great game. Problem solved.

 

I just won my first online game 23-0 (1-3 overall). I gave him a mercy (he requested) after scoring on a 3 yard run with Ronnie Brown.

OK, need some help... How do I stop these passes over the middle? I run Zone, nothing. I place coverage in the middle, nothing.

I've had some sucess running. Still it's very hard. However it does help setup play action for me. I've got 2 big TD with Ginn over the middle.

Anyone know how to strafe?

 

Left trigger is Strafe. Play Middle with a OLB or MLB.

 

I never said 2K was better I said 2K had better features. This years madden has nothing in franchise mode which is a big mistake it feels so empty. This years Madden is targeted to a audience that doesn't play it I think it was a huge mistake.

 

Really? I got picked off on a bomb and used the L-trigger and it did nothing..

 

It takes a second or 2 to get into the strafe position.

 

I'm now 4-7/8 (not sure exactly) online. I'm getting better actually.

1). I don't run the ball much. QB sneaks def, but I don't bother to much.

2). I finally found a good defense to run. I ACTUALLY MADE SOME GUY PUNT A FEW TIMES! It was incredible.

The trick is running a cover 2 defense. It's got solid zones for LB/S and CB stay home to stop combacks, outs, etc.... Over the middle is done, and so are the long over the middle routes. There's a few blitzes too. However you will get run on! And if your're playing a team with a smart QB, you'll get caught if you run to much.

I do hate the lag though. It's not much, but it's hard to get hit sticks and highlight moves because it delays, as where the movement of the player does not lag.

Patriots are godly... My friend and I both played as them (so it wasn't cheap) and I won 23-21 with a FG with 1:12 left (he had 1 TO).

He starts at his 30. throws a beautiful post (after running some quick passes) and gets to the 42. Next play I picked him off FTW.

I experimented with some good playbooks and pats are #1 by far. They've got hundreds of shotgun formations. Love it!

Oh, and Dolphins suck... You probably noticed. I did have a sweet 43 yard WR screen with Ginn though. Since you can't run, Ronnie is worthless for the most part. I can't win consistently with them. Hopefully Pennington is added soon. Want to try him out.

Cowboys- Tony Romo has good speed and great arm. Witten and TO are deadly.

Chargers- Would be better if L.T. could factor in the game.

Colts- Best WR duo

I've tried the browns and there not half bad. Maybe #5. I think New Orleans might be better though. I gotta try them out.

Glad I got a 360. Voice chat is a lot of fun and adds value to the game (I know ppl an use BT on PS3 but in my expirence no one has them)... You should always play in the headset lobby. I found that otherwise ppl don't have/use them. Although I wish the speaker volume was louder is the headset... Would be even better.

I played some preseason yesterday, and I have no problem running with the fins, so I don't get it.

And the only training drill I am good at is the Linemen challenge (OL).

I don't know. Some are the same.

I know in the WR drill it is ridiculous. Will Allen blankets me all the time, and the QB throws ****ty passes when I do get open.

And the RB drill is a lot harder then I recall.

 

I played my first franchise game yesterday. I decided to start Henne, due to the fact he has a rocket arm.

Playaction pass, Hot route Ginn deep, throw to Ginn before sacked with total control passing long, touchdown!

 

After the online roster update Pennington becomes a free agent just pick him up there. That's what I did.

 

I passed since he's just a temp till Henne is ready. I figure Henne will take his lumps this year (and he is for me at 6 TD's, 9 INT's right now but I get too cocky throwing so).

Tried to make it as realistic as possible by bumping Langford up to around a 79 a smidge behind Roth (I have a feeling this kid will be the star of the draft so I put him at a more respectable number) and I edited Thomas to RG and bumped him to a 78.

Would have picked up Soliai et al from the free agency pile but I'm not sure how to do a real effective rotation at the DE spot which means Starks isn't getting crap for playtime as it is. I'm pretty much running with Roth/Merling/Langford/Moses at DE. Thinking about ditching Holliday for Starks after this season so Starks at least gets in 4-3 formations and DL subs (about the easiest way to get them playtime).

Anyone come up with a real way for rotating several DE's into the game?

 

Henne won't play at all unless injuries ravage the quarterback position. Parcells never starts a rookie QB if he can avoid it.

Pennington will start until he almost inevitably goes down. Whoever the #2 QB is (Beck or McCown) will then step in. Henne will not.

 

It is my opinion that Henne is awesome in that game. His long passes to Ginn are a thing of beauty. Especially when they are in one on one coverage. Ginn can pass them and Henne can throw the ball over 50 yards in the air, beauitfully.

 

Right but I'm talking about Pennington being a temporary guy so I skipped picking him up to just send Henne through his lumps now.

 

Henne is the best QB the Dolphins have. The best Arm Strength and Awareness I believe.

I hate the fact that Changing positions drastically hurts the player. I mean isn't Groves a OLB for us? And why the hell do we not run a 3-4 in Madden?

 

When your at the team matchup screen hit x and choose Dallas playbook. Pretty much the same thing. Also, edit your players before you start your franchise. ie: I made Thomas a RG right off the bat.
