I hate the fact that if you have the silver membership you can't download new demos for like a week. Well off to download the demo on PSN.
Well after about 2hrs downloading I tried it and that was easily the worst demo I ever played. The gameplay was as expected but I couldn't play a game...wtf. They should have made it like the NCAA 09 demo.
Can you say overload on dropped passes? Jesus. It's the best looking Madden ever, though, and the game play is nice although I haven't had the chance to run the football yet with the crappy "Moment" they give you in the demo. I hope they patched up the issue with my wide open receivers catching 50% of the passes.
played it LATE last night. Easily the dumbest gimmick of a demo even EA could have come up with. This is low even for them. Wow
i liked it, i didn't expect it to be a full game or anything... game play was fine... im excited for that game its a demo people, and for how big the file was imagine if they put more into it, the download would have taken even longer
last year's demo (and NCAA's demo) was a full game (granted, it had 2 minute quarters) and the demo was the same size. It gave a much better feeling for the game.
meh, i got a feel for it, thats all i need... maybe this game is that much bigger, and they wanted to squeeze in that whatever it was to get your level at running/passing/defense/etc, so they couldn't make it a whole game... either way the game play was nice, looked good... im excited to cop
Yeah, I agree. Once I beat the challenge I deleted it so I wouldn't use up so much memory, it was worth the DL and has me excited for the new Madden.
i liked it. My grades were both all pro on offence, and rookie on defense. i kept gettin juked out. oh well. i really was just trying to get thru it as fast as possible so i could actually see the game. visually, its very nice. I must say i really enjoyed it. would have liked to play an actual game instead of the "momment" but oh well i guess. just have to wait.
i've been playing this game for 20 years. i have the original, and ive owned all of em over the years. and i was a little shocked to find that defensively...I SUCK. i got graded all-madden at running. all-pro in passing. and im a garbage rookie at defense. and being good at running doesnt even matter, because...like in college, if you play anyone decent, you cant get blocking, the jump the snap puts a DT in your face every second, DBs level you like MLBs, and you cant do jack. the controls are sloppy, if i try to cover someone one-on-one, i dont stand a chance. i dont use the joystick, i like the d-pad. but the damn thing does the hokey pokey, instead of going where you want. niether ncaa or madden seem tight. i need it to be friggin tight, like it was on the god damn genesis.
I use the PS3 analog stick on NCAA and I find it pretty tight (too tight sometimes in fact). If you are on 360 and trying to use the d-pad, that is your problem, not the game. Calling the 360 d-pad garbage would be a complement given its actual functionality.
im an old dog man. i cant adapt. those d-pads used to be good. why wouldn't they be responsive now? i dont like the left analog
I think it might be time to make the switch over. I also am a fan of using the D-pad in some games but sports i have to you the analog
I use to be die-hard d-pad too. With the PS1 and PS2 I always used the d-pad because of NES, SNES, etc. The 360 pretty much forced me to switching to the analog.
I went through that battle with the N64. When I first got the PS1 I still used the D pad. Then I had a break between consoles where I didn't own a console until the 360 came out. SO I basically went from the N64/PS1 straight to the 360, where I hardly ever use the Dpad.
so guys, you're saying its much more responsive to use the left stick than the d-pad? the player moves better, goes where you intend? is tighter?
most definitely. It takes a little bit of getting used to once you've played for generations on the D pad, but in about 20 minutes you should never want to ever attempt to play with the D pad again.
When I played Halo with my buddies on the XBox, I was terrible because I couldn't handle the dual analog, was too use to d-pad or just using the left analog on the PS2. I didn't play Halo much because I was a PS2 guy, but I chose the XBox 360 over the PS3 and I had to adapt to the dual analog. The GTA series also helped too, I guess.
Madden 2003 on the PS2 broke my analog stick virginity. I tried forever and forever to use the d-pad but it just didn't work so I had to adapt.
damn, you guys are right. im way better at avoiding tackles and making plays as a runner with the L-stick.
If you hit "x" after every touchdown, interception thrown, failed 4th down, time expiring.. you'll have a full fledged game. But seriously, I'm excited about Madden for the first time in years. Gameplay actually feels better than NCAA.
On second note, I think this demo was done more so for the noobs than your casual Madden fan. EA knows that we're all going to buy the game anyway. They were trying to show off that new feature, which IMO, is pretty dumb. Did anyone else have trouble when it came to rush defense in the drills? That damn running back broke every tackle, and I usually shut down the run in All Madden. I'll be sticking to All Madden - forget that Madden Test thing.
Thats what i was thinking. Im usually pretty good with my tackling in Madden, but it seemed in that test the RB just about broke every damn tackle. it was driving me nuts. I kind of like the idea. If its what im thinking... from what ive read and someone can correct me if im wrong... but you do those drills, then it sets the AI level and sliders according to your performance on the tests? If so, i actually think thats pretty cool. As long as it works out well enough that in actual games im still good at what im good at, and awful at what im awful at and most importantly as long as its still a challenge. If it works out that way, i think its a pretty cool feature. no more testing through the difficulty levels and sliders until you get comfortable.
i have to upgrade to the special edition, just so i dont have to look at that selfish baby on the cover. now he's even costing ME money!
Damn, that demo was fun. I wish it was longer but gameplay feels so much smoother. Even the beginning tests were fun i thought even though the pass defense gave me alot of trouble
