San Diego released LT........for those who care..... http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/02/22/chargers-let-go-of-ladainian-tomlinson/
I can't imagine why any of our division rivals would want to sign him. NE: They've already got several aging running backs on their roster. Signing one more would not solve that problem in the least. NYJ: They've got Shonne Green and Leon Washington. As well as Thomas. Buff: They've got Lynch and Jackson. He's on the down stroke of his career. Forget what he used to be - look at what he is now. I really do not think he's going to be too scary. The last two years he's avg'd less than 4 ypc. http://www.nfl.com/players/ladainiantomlinson/profile?id=TOM683150
I wounder if they would be willing to trade for ricky Williams for maybe a 5th or maybe shawne merriman in some kind of package
Bears. Texans would be an interesting fit though imo - they desperately need someone with his short yardage ability and touchdown production.
kind of sad to see how a team treats one of their icon players. LT was there when the chargers were bad and he still produced without saying a word. he set a ton of records and still you are basicly worth nothing. i hope he finds a new home somewhere.
What did they do that would be considered treating him poorly? For the past two seasons LT has been under 4.0 ypc. They released him early enough so that he can sign with another team that may want to take a chance on him. In the past he's produced and he's been paid well for it. He's not producing now and was given last year to show that the year before was an aberration. Do you really expect a team who's sole purpose is to win football games to keep a player on the roster simply for sentimental reasons? I disagree that he was "worth nothing". Again he was paid quite well for his performance. All those millions he made shouldn't be considered "nothing". If that money was in my own account; believe me I wouldn't look at it as nothing.
I think LT may have a hard time finding a new home with the flood of RB's that will be available (Westbrook and C. Taylor already, with T. Jones likely to soon be joining them). And, it's obvious he's a shadow of his former self, so he would likely be a complimentary back at this point in his career. And, he desperately wants a ring, which I would think is going to narrow his search. I mean, I'm sure he'll land somewhere. But, I don't think it's gonna be soon. And, I think it's going to be for less money that he wants. Honestly, the more I think about it, he's got NE written all over him.
i was just stunned when I heard that he was released, that might have influenced my option last time. yeah you are right, he didn't produce all that well but that doesn't mean that LT flat out sucked. the chargers were and still are a pass happy team that might decreased his numbers, too. anyways it just doesn't feel right or did you thought the same once the dolphins announced the release of zach thomas?
