Huh? What was Philbin right and Ireland wrong about? Branden Albert? OK I'll give you that one, even though I'm sure Ireland felt he could get Albert in 2014 w/o giving up a 2nd round pick (and missing out on Dion Jordan), which is what happened after he left anyway.

What about Brandon Marshall, Bush, Dansby, Burnett? Who's idea was it to move away from the 3-4? Seems to me there were a lot of disagreements and neither Philbin nor Ireland can be considered "right".

Seems to me that if Ireland was such a bad GM then Philbin must be a great coach in order to squeeze a .500 record and nearly make the playoffs despite his poor roster. Ironically, you disagree with the logical conclusion of your own arguement. Philbin was right and Ireland wrong you say. So the org lets Irish go and keeps Philbin...aaaand Instead of applauding you pull a new theory, that the whole organization sucks, out of thin air.

Seems like you're just gonna ***** and moan about something, someone, it doesn't really matter what, until the team wins. Which is fine, but you're trying to present it in the form of a rationale arguement and clearly it is not.

NE is still the best team in the division, no doubt. But we beat them with Will Davis, Jimmy Wilson and Michael Thomas playing CB down the stretch, a bad OL, no run game, and only 3 NFL receivers so I don't wanna hear about who the Pats were playing without. They got beat, period. And if the refs hadn't helped them out in October they probably would've got swept.

The post I responded to said we "smashed" them the second game which we clearly did not do.

We'll see what happens in 6 weeks or so.

I might be able to make it to practice tomorrow morning, I am trying to find out if it's padded or not. Anyone have any info on this?

Those last two games against Buffalo and NY kind of made me throw in the towel on serious playoff hopes. Those last two games were about a notch below that Miami-Jax playoff game, yeah that bad.

The football season kind of snuck up on me, I was just thinking damn preseason games in a couple of weeks? What? It seems like the draft was just a little while ago, the NBA Finals were enjoyable, the NBA free agency period, The Decision II, World Cup, etc. Seems like the offseason just kinda ended and training camp started with a whisper. I'm not getting myself up too high with the Dolphins because honestly this year could spiral downward quickly, I hope that it doesn't.

I love what Mike Wallace said. "They're sleeping on us. We're going to wake their *** up."

I am always pumped up and ready for football season and my Phins! But, I do admit that my exuberance has been tempered this year due to our recent history. They are going to have to show me something this year before I get full on nuts again.

i'm still riding on that world cup title wave, but its getting there, i just did my first fantasy football draft yesterday, that pouncey injury sucked a lot of excitement out of me, i'm scared of another oline disaster but jarvis landry and the news about mike wallace lining up all over the place made it up a little

Football season snuck up on me as well. The end of the season soured me a bit. We went from being the favorites for the last playoff spot, basically having to win just one out of two games against inferior opponents and we got our butts kicked twice. I then hated the GM search. I felt Ireland took all the blame when there many obvious coaching deficiencies present as well. I was fine with Ireland being let go, but the replacement was somebody which provided even less reason for hope with an even worse reputation for treating players/people poorly. Then the Heat season was exciting as was the NBA off-season. Add to that becoming obsessed with GoT and being busier than usual in my personal life and yeah, football season was an after-thought.

True true,I don't have any affinity for another team, I'm getting there now that James is out of Miami..no joke.

Honestly though, I don't understand the fluctuations of any fanbase, it's your team, I think to create a good football culture and get the best out of your team, you need to criticize with caution,I mean you can be critical and give your analysis, but when fans say their gonna boycott, or spew vitriol because it's cool to see their words in print or to hear their voice on the radio, it's basically just reiterating the national perception. I think it's counter productive and detrimental to the franchise.

There was no contradiction. Just your poor reading comprehension. Ireland sucking does not equal Philbin being good. I said that twice, in both posts. you still don't get it.

Yeah I heard you. The GM sucks, the HC is no good, but the team went 8-8, 4-1 vs AFC playoff teams, and finished one game out of the playoffs. Anyone with common sense would have trouble comprehending nonsense like that so I'll take your dig as a compliment.

    Ranked 31st.
Countless unknown variables regarding the team that by and large remains intact from last year, historically crappy OL notwithstanding.
    ...but now Shermans gone?

Can't imagine a better setting to kick off the season.

While I feel for those attending half filled home games, and little has changed regarding the chronic pessimism that plagues this site, nothing kills my preseason buzz quicker than over-speculative hype.

The media has remained consistent, and hidden beneath their fog of aversive and blatant disregard, we'll have the advantage of surprise.

Well the World Cup just ended so I caught the soccer bug so thats my reason for not reading into anything NFL related too much yet. But for other fans I would assume the football snuck up on them due to the World Cup, Lebron leaving, and a big one that could keep people from being pumped is the way we missed the playoffs last year. We were so close last year and making it to the playoffs this year would make people think it happened a year later than it should.

The soccer bug should cool down in a few weeks and I will be extremely pumped by then.

What pre- season Hype? Certainly Espn and Nfl network have no hypw or any news on the Dolphins. the news is Johnny Manziel, Brady and Gronk, Peyton Manning
    no news on Miami.
