Louisville QB Brian Brohm ran a 4.61 forty at his Pro Day Monday, according to NFL Network's Charles Davis.

Second fastest quarterback in the draft. Brohm ran a 4.83 at the Combine, so this is marked improvement. We'd still be a little wary of what type of track he ran on, but it's impressive. Brohm is a superb athlete.

There goes any chance of him sliding to us in the 2nd.

I was thinking the samething. i want beck to get a chance. If Brohm is high on phins board i wonder if Bill would trade up for him?....

If any team drafts him higher because he ran a great 40, they should have their head examined.

Every year there seems to be a player riding a rollercoaster up and down the draft boards. He does seem to be on the rise again as of late.

I have a feeling Chicago will take him in the first round. I wouldn't be altogether surprised if Atlanta passes on Ryan and takes Brohm. It would be nice to have him in a fins uni, but it's becoming less and less likely that that will happen.

Lol that occurred to me too. I'm of the position if we take a QB fine, I'll support the guy but until then I'm fully behind John Beck.

Speed makes a difference in every position in the NFL except kicker and punter. And even then it doesn't hurt. Yeah, that's not going to be the deciding factor, but it sure doesn't hurt his stock any. If it wasn't important QBs wouldn't run the 40 during workouts.

The important factor about a QB is not speed, but mobility. Can he move around in the pocket? Can he slide out of the way of a blitz? I hope I never see a Dolphins team have to rely on the footspeed of the QB in a straight line. I remember holding my breath on the one bootleg I saw Marino run, and just about fainting when he scored.

I've been saying for weeks - I have no clue why Brohm fell so far. He's a great athlete, a great passer - and there are people predicting he's not even going to go in the first round? I just don't understand it.

Some of these kids stayin in school doesn't make any sense. How many times have we seen people like Leinart or Brohm be projected into the top 5 if they came out in their junior year only to come out as seniors and drop drastically?

The feeling I got from watching a bit of Brohm is that he doesn't have the arm that people look for in a top flight prospect.

I believe Henne is higher on the Dolphins draft board than Brohm..just from past qb's and from what I have read.

I dunno, I refuse to believe that Brohm will disappear in this draft. Considering Quinns fall from grace last year, Brohm staying in school will probably end up being the smart move.

I maybe the only one, but I think he still maybe picked before Ryan.

All the comments I've seen mention that it's because of his team failing to meet expectations. At the same time they mention that through all the struggles of his team they saw other great aspects of his game present themselves.

Espn was one of them. They actually mentioned that he impressed them in different ways last year than the year before. Which you'd think would solidify him as a top QB showing such diversity in his game no?
Yet he's still taken a plunge?

It's why I'm not buying all the Matt Ryan hype.
To me it seems most likely that he's become "the flavor of the year" top QB prospect based on there not being that percieved "can't miss" QB prospect at the top of this years draft.

Not that he's not a good QB prospect but is he really heads and shoulders above other prospects that will be there in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th rounds?

I've seen scouts that put him behind Brohm, Henne, Flacco and Woodson.

Matt Ryan is the guy from Boston, just like Quinn was the guy from ND. It's incredibly easy for the national guys to flip out - but I don't buy that the NFL scouts are fooled.

I wouldn't mind at all if we took Jake Long first, then traded up to the middle-late first round and took Brohm, if he were still available.

I would imagine that's because Henne is the guy the Fins realistically project to be there with their next pick(s). IMO, they would be insane to take Henne over Brohm if both were available.

I'd rather have Flacco than Henne.

Brohm wont make it out of the 1st round. I have him as right behind Ryan followed by Flacco who i also think will go in the first.

Im not sure why...Brohm is alot like Beck, Henne is the big guy I think the new regime would love to have with pick 2b.

IMO, I think Brohm could hit at #8 with Baltimore. Im not sure why the media has dropped him so far down many gurus boards-he could possibly have been the #1 overall last year. You dont from that to a second rounder.
Unless a premium LT, or maybe Mendenhall the RB is available to them, Chicago would have a tough time explaining to their fans why they passed on him to stick with Grossman/Orton. But Baltimore I think could surprise-Ozzie seems to be a bit of a risktaker, but with a good eye for talent.

i too have never understood why brohm fell so far his senior year he still put up very good numbers i have him as the #1 qb in the draft actually i like him a lot more than ryan

i also would not mind henne i think people forget about him because of the injuries

i would like to see beck get his shot with henne waiting in the background if beck slips up henne can come in

gOOD THING WE DIDN'T TAKE mARINO BASED ON HOW FAST HE RAN THE 40. (Sorry, hate caps lock) But Dan the Man could negotiate his way around the pocket pretty darn good despite his lack of supposed mobility, its a sense of knowing when & where to go. It is not speed by any means.
