Hey guys! Just found out about this place (I'm really in the dark about all this split stuff). So... Lost? Is that show still on? Great episode last night (it should be, it's Locke centric). Much better then Jacky boy's episode (go figure...). Where to begin? Let's start with my favorite character, Ben. I don't know about anyone else but I am not necessarily loving Ben's direction. I've always loved the fact he was a master schemer and manipulator (ie, "You had [hurley] convinced it was his idea to come... That's good."). I'm kind of worried about the direction of the character. The Ben centric episode was great, but I hate the whole idea that Ben has just given up on the island/jacob/leadership. I'm hoping that things come full circle and Ben is just posturing right now. However the whole Alex issue leads me to believe otherwise. As Ben once said, she was his alone. She had nothing to do with the island. Just a daughter. The island (IMO) took that away. The chosen one shouldn't have distractions not related to the island. Locke is perfect because it's all he has or wants. Last night's cabin meeting disappointed me a bit. I want Jacob... I was looking forward to this season because the writers were going to further the character (and because Lost is great). Kemi (SP??) is awesome. I hate his guts, which is exactly how it should be for a bad guy. Something the show has never really had (I don't count Ben because his complexity made him compelling. Compelling is great). I'm missing a bunch of stuff, but it's a start.
Ummm ... wow guys. I'm shocked nobody mentioned the WILD thing that happens in the trailer. (More on that in a moment.) I think Claire is "awake" because she's dead. That allowed Christian to show her the island's secrets fully. But the BIGGIE is the trailer, which looked to have Kate and Sayid in a confrontation with ... Kate and Sayid!!!!
Dangit ... can't find the trailer at the moment. EDIT! Haha! Click "US." http://the-odi.blogspot.com/2008/05/episode-4x12-us-abc-and-canadian-ctv.html
I still don't see "it". To me it looks like they're in the jungle and surrounded with guns covering each other's back
The trailers are always misleading... on purpose... anyway back to the objects that John had to choose from on the table... anybody take a close look at the comic book that was under the knife? I think that is what he was supposed to see (through the knife). The comic was about a hidden land...hmmm... He was doing pretty well picking out the "science" objects until he picked up the knife. Compass, some type of rock sample, find that island John???
That's is my theory. When pictures and screen caps were first released after MBtC, the facial features matched Locke's (Terry O'Quinn). This was also before we discovered time travel would play such a large part in. the show. Add in Richard Alpert's little Dalai Lama test and it fits... At least for now. Did everyone hear that Lost will have 2 more hours over the next two seasons? Both season 5 and 6 will get a two hour finale (This season only has 14 hours as oppose o 16). Darlton said that Claire being alive or dead is not the issue. What happened to Claire is... I don't know what that means exactly but I think she must have been filled in on some important events. I'm going to listen to the lost podcast and see if there are any good tidbits.
I thought they already said that Jacob was not Locke and that the reason we didn't really see him was because they hadn't cast him yet? The guy that Locke first saw in the cabin way back when was actually one of the wardrobe or makeup guys.
I thought it was Christian originally, with the suit and the white shoes. So I wasn't surprised to see Christian inside again, Claire on the other hand... I have no idea what that means.
Been rewatching the first season, trying to get the man into the show. Question for you all, the psychic that told Claire she needs to raise her own baby, and sent her on 815 cause he "knew" it would crash. Why didn't he know that Aaron would leave the island with someone other then his mom?!? Been struggeling with that for days. Only thing I'm coming up with is that Claire is the one whose "chosen" to repopulate the island?
I cant remember for sure Motion maybe able to give you more but I think someone brought up that what was said was it shouldnt be raised by another meaning " an other"
I think there is more to that story though. I'm wondering if Charlie's message for Jack, through Hurley, in that flashforward was on the same subject. I think Claire/Aaron will be a very important piece to the puzzle.
Yeah, I agree that there is more to come regarding those two. Perhaps Claire will come back to claim Aaron? I love that were almost at s5 still debating s1 stuff. I don't remember any comments abut wardrobe or makeup guys, but that doesn't mean it's not true. I thought they said it was a stand in that was prominent in the show? (I think one of the directors). I still believe it's Locke. I think they were caught red handed and changed their tune. If I remember correctly, didn't they say nothing on the issue (of who Jacob was) for months, then they came up with that story? Either way, I'm betting on Locke from a past or future.
Could be, wouldn't really surprise me. I just thought I remembered them saying it was just some random guy from the set because they hadn't cats Jacob yet. Sounds like it could be a BS excuse.
have we ever had an instance where a past/future and a present person were alive and at the same place? I know the doc died on the island and was alive on the boat, but they never interacted...
Thinking about the whole Claire thing again. I don't think the psychic ment "an other", if that was the case, he wouldn't have sent her on 815 where it crashed with a crap load of others. But its Lost and two things are certain, 1. Expect the unexpected. 2. the whole show makes you feel Lost!
Yeah... Desmond's little time lapse thing where he went back to his army days, his body was probably there at that time, but his mind (or consciousness) is what moved from present to past and then back and forth. It's not like "Back to the Future" where the body and mind moves... just the mind.
another thing about season one... remember "adam and eve" with the black and white stones in the pockets? does anyone think they were there before dharma?
I do. I suspect they were the original "others" ie the inhabiters of the island prior to Dharma, or they were part of Ressau's team. Although that is less likely. Ressau's was only there 16 years, and Jack said that it takes 40-50 years for clothing to decompt like that...
I'm still not sure where they fit in. If they were "natives" how did they age and die when Richard doesn't seem too? Or is the island not the reason Richard doesn't age? Hard to tell when the island can heal so many people, yet let others suffer (Ben, Jack). One of these last two episodes is supposed to Richard-centric hopefully we get some answers on the history of the island.
New info Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof reveal: [Time travel definitely plays a part in the series...] You will learn a lot more about Richard Alpert as the show goes on. He is going to become more prominent in the future of the show.
Thursday! Awesome, he is one of my favorite characters as well! More screen time and info on him means more info on the history of the island!
You are too funny, brother. I love your enthusiasm. Here's my questions: 1. Why has Hurley not lost any weight since getting to the island? 2. Could he be the sanest one of all?
1. He had/has his own personal stash of food from the hatch. Although as much as he's moved around since then that is a good question. 2. Very possible
Hurley has food stashed everywhere. Even last episode he pulled a candy bar out of his pocket which he surprisingly shared with Ben. I don't know if Hurley is the sanest, but he is definitely a key to the ending IMO. They focus a lot of shows on his mental hospital stays...
and remember they have only been on the island what? 4-5 months? and with the food that is there, candy bars and such it makes sense that hes the same size
