Remember, this was all set to go down last year (rumored to be at 170) until Silva danced the cha cha in Dubai. Then again, Georgie has said he'd want to gain the weight the right way before moving up. So it's possible he'd get a fight in at 185 before challenging Silva. GSP is probably my favorite fighter. He's such a natural at 170, I really wish he didn't have to go to 185 to fight Silva. Nor should Silva have to go all the way down to 170. But there's no legitimate reason for it to be at a catchweight. Both fighters have cleaned out their divisions. GSP has to make that career move to middleweight. And that fight is too big for the belts not to be at stake.
I'll believe it when I see it. But with the way both fighters have been fighting in recent years, it will be a 5 round borefest. (assuming it's for the middleweight title)
I dont think it would be the summer IF it were to happen...End of '11 IMO. George fights at the end of April, and he has stated over and over that he wants it to be "natural" move up. Meaning he wants the weight to fit him, and not vice versa. With that being said...Dana White says ALOT of things, so who knows. Unfortunetly, I cant see GSP taking Silvas Belt, same way Silva wouldn't be able to take GSPs belt, IMO.
This is why we need the old MMA thread. You could comment without creating a thread. Nice win for Diaz, old man Walker. Good card coming up Saturday. No discussion on any of that. I know the idea was to create separate threads for events and what not, but I don't thing we have enough MMA fans in here to have a new thread on each event.
