I've heard people talk highly of Avast and I use Malwarebytes (along with AVG). Thing is, some of them can detect threats that others miss, so it's best to have at least 2 programs protecting your computer.

Just a heads up. I loaded AVG on my wife's computer with out a problem. Mine is the one I am having a problem with. I was getting an error. I sent an email to support at AVG, got a very quick response, and the problem was solved. It has cleaned up things that Norton was missing. Thanks Brother Mike for the info.

That's cause Norton and Mcafee blow. I hate that they preload that crap on pcs, and make it difficult to remove.

Avira is the best and lightest antivirus that's available for free. AVG is becoming bloated.

Hey Pete I thought my wifes computer was good to go. Last night I did the install, and she had stuff on there as well that Norton should have caught.:pity:

Norton is terrible. I have run free antivirus apps many times after ridding a system of that crap pile and end up finding tons of infected items. You also probably noticed an increase in system performance after the uninstall.
