The Lions reportedly "seem prepared" to take Oregon RB Jonathan Stewart with the No. 15 overall pick.
This goes against what all the Lions beat writers are saying (that Detroit will use its first-rounder on Jerod Mayo if Derrick Harvey is gone), but still makes plenty of sense. Stewart is arguably the second best running back in the draft, toe surgery or not. The Lions can't rely on Tatum Bell to start.

I think Harvey will be there and they will select him. IMO.

    UPDATE:

    HARVEY OR MAYO FOR LIONS
Posted by Mike Florio on April 26, 2008, 1:36 p.m.

We’ve heard from several folks that the Lions are expected to select Florida defensive end Derrick Harvey, if he’s still available at No. 15.

If not, then the pick will be Tennessee linebacker Jerod Mayo.

And given the arrest of safety Kalvin Pearson for aggravated battery of a pregnant woman and domestic assault by strangulation (the penalty for which should be death by mugabe), it’s safe to say that the Lions will be taking a closer look at safeties, after round one.

    - While the Detroit Lions interest in Jerod Mayo is well known, sources have told us the team is also interested in another SEC defender, Marcus Howard of Georgia. If they are able to draft Mayo somewhere in the third round the team would use him as a pass rushing defensive end in a similar capacity as the Colts use Dwight Freeney.
