******* lawyers are telling players not to roll over, and stand firm in this labor dispute. This is just too much with football being so close. Killing all the lawyers, as once suggested in early times, will not work today. However, if players and their lawyers disagree, I suggest putting a lawyer one on one with Cam Wake, who is not making much money, and wants to play.

When the lawyer is peeled up, chances are he will STFU, and there will be football.

This is REALLY pissing me off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im tired of it. The NFL can **** off for all I care. This **** is getting ridiculous. If they sign a new CBA tomorrow, I'd be happy.....but this off-season (and the Dolphins sucking for so long) has kind've got me on my last nerve.

I know once training camp (hopefully) opens, Ill be smiling again for football.....but I have a bad taste in my mouth about all of this crap.

The lawyers are just as greedy as the main two parties. Should have realized that before they decertified the union. As long as this thing continues unresolved, the lawyers get to ride their money train.

The lawyers have been the biggest obstacle from day one. It's not coincidental that progress in the labor talks came after the lawyers were told to leave the room.

This is what the lawyers are paid to do. It's not farfetched at all to believe that if the players wanted to bring their case to the courts, they could very well end up with a system that is much better for them.

On the other hand, they do have to weigh the fact that taking their case to the courts will likely result in missed games, which could hurt them in the short-term.

Really, the lawyers aren't doing anything wrong. They are giving their opinion from a legal point of view. In the end it is up to the players to take that information and make an informed decision as to what is best for them.

YOu mean when they sham-decertified...that was certainly a lawyer trick...too many non-football folks involved in these negotiations....I agree...them to dump the whole bunch on both sides, put Goodell and Smith in a room and tell them no women until they agree to a contract....

God yes! Can't wait for the Canes to take the field.

I got spoiled with the heat, that was fun. Now that is over and my Marlins are choking to death. It's sad. I guess I'll continue getting AWESOME at call of duty.

Wish blogtalkradio was still free, I miss hosting my radio show :(

Everybody hates lawyers until they need one. Just wait until something horrible happens to you or a loved one and some big business or insurance company denies your claim. People complain all the time about "frivolous lawsuits". Nobody talks about how big business and insurance companies deny perfectly legit claims and force the claimants to file suit.

Curse lawyers all you want. Call us every name in the book. And then come crying to us when you get screwed.

And while I'm ranting, read this. Its the truth about the lady who spilled coffee on her lap, and not the big business propaganda everyone eats up: http://www.marlerblog.com/case-news/the-truth-about-the-mcdonalds-hot-coffee-case/

The point here isn't to bash the legal profession as a whole, it's to complain that the specific lawyers for the NFLPA (and NFL) are holding up progress wherever possible.

I believe PFT actually pointed out that some of the lawyers involved work for firms who also represent other sports. Florio speculated that they're intentionally gumming up the works due to that conflict of interest.

I don't watch the Canes every Saturday. Even though I am a fan of them, I am not married to them.

These labor lawyers bill by the hour. It's in their best interest that this thing not be resolved quickly. Compromise impacts their bottom line.

And it's been pretty well demonstrated that they've been the common denominator during the periods in which negotiations stalled and progress eroded.

Hard for me to feel little more than contempt for them.

While I agree with the general premise of this thread (at least as it pertains to the lockout), and I understand it's in Rants, I would like to point out that not all lawyers are bad. We have several who are prominent members of the board (phunwin, JDang, Jimmy James, and Frayser) and actually aren't all that bad when you get to know them. :wink2:
