Honestly, probably pretty decent odds. Linemen are generally regarded as safe picks. Also a chance we have a developmental guy like Prince maybe take a step.

That's not to say it's not a gamble, but you don't make an omelette without cracking some eggs.

I would be much more excited about this if I had ANY faith that with all these picks we would end up with an above average offensive line and a franchise qb. They have shown a complete inability to evaluate offensive linemen and completely undervalue the position group as a whole. Only reason we had Tunsil to begin with is he fell into our lap.

On paper its in our favor but I seriously doubt they will execute this plan without completely screwing it up.

Not necessarily. Saxsonville is back! Their defense looks phenomenal.

In fact, and you’re hearing it first from me...Jacksonville is my pick to go to the dance this year

It wouldn't be surprising - none of the teams in that division are flat out BAD. The Titans are probably a .500ish team. The Colts lost Luck which is a monstrous loss ... but it's a MUCH better team than when Manning went down overall, also probably a .500ish unit now. JVille has a chance to be good.

The Texans have some really good pieces, but they also have some severe weaknesses, and while I'm a Watson believer, Tunsil alone isn't a fix for their line.

Holy s--t!!! I just got home from work and saw this. I don't know what to feel. I really really like Tunsil. He was one of, if not our best player on the team. He is a stud. f---!! I wish him well.

On one hand, this is kind of what NE does. They usually don't pay massive contracts for most players as they must feel that no player is more important than the coaching and the system. I don't know what to feel right now. I feel lost. I need a hug........

Im saving any feeling for immediately after the 2020 draft and then for the 2020 season. :bighug:

It'll be a make or break time for Grier and Flores.

As long as we don't go 0-16 I don't really care about this season. Just win one early.

Davenport so far has been horrible. Anyone know anything about Bademosi?

Couldn't we just have had more picks? :D

On the surface this appears to be a good move.. however if you look deeper this deal is fraught with peril.

The problem is Grier can’t draft and I have zero confidence he will do anything with those two late round 1sts we got in exchange.

Tunsil will be multi time pro bowler and has HOF upside... the odds of Grier finding 1 let alone 2 players of his caliber are remote at best.

We better go 0 - 16 and draft Tua...

    Memories of Hershal Walker...

2 firsts and a second is probably what Marino would've gone for. Pretty amazing haul for Grier.

    Just what the doctor ordered.

Yeah, this is really rebuilding, from the ground up. It's not like the half arse rebuilding we've seen here in the past. This is the players, the coaches, the contracts, etc.The whole f'n house.

How many OL have we seen walk off and become better on other teams. Some guys just need more time. Especially if they are day 3 picks to begin with. At least he comes in here with a load of starting exp.

My thoughts exactly! It is after all our beloved Miami Dolphins. An organization that is mocked by the sports industry as being one of the most dysfunctional organizations in all of pro sports.

But maybe, just maybe we get a little lucky and Greir hits on some of these picks and we come out of this with something special moving forward. Throw enough sh!t against the wall and some of it is bound to stick! :king:

You know, after thinking it over for a bit, you have to admire they are letting nothing stand in the way of finding a franchise QB and trading Tunsil for all those picks greatly increases the chances of getting a top QB in 2020 or 2021 if need be.

Painful now, but most of us have wanted a complete rebuild at some point in the last decade or so, as adding a big name player or two in free agency and tweaking the roster a bit has not worked out.

If the Texans crash and burn during this season, I might be able to believe that things are going to break Miami's way in 2020 and beyond.

We won't be looking for a LT. We aren't looking to replace Tunsil with a player of his caliber. If that's your barometer for this deal, you'll probably always be disappointed. We are stockpiling picks to get the QB we need. BTW, this was A TOTAL BB move. Trading a great player for a **** ton of picks before we had to pay him. People have been crying for years that we needed to be run like Patriots. Myself and a few others pointed out that as soon as our FO ever dared to trade a player like Collins, people would be pissed.

    And here we are.

For the record, I don't think any front office anywhere ever turns down that offer.

It's impossible to turn down that offer- I'm not sure if Tom Brady would demand 2 firsts and a second. We're solid at receiver so losing Stills is not a big deal at all, and that's one heck of a haul.

Am I glad Tunsil is gone? Hell no. Would I have personally made that trade? In a heartbeat....they drastically overpaid.

It's the fan dream situation - poorly managed team desperate for a player at a specific position giving a crazy offer. We just happened to be on the good side of it. The Texans are an organizational mess right now.

The thing is, I actually Like Grier. The problem is he is a part of the scouting dept that has been inept at finding offensive linemen. Even if he did not make the picks he still couldn't identify good linemen. I don't trust them not to screw this up.

You are wrong. If you are looking at this to just get a qb you could have the second coming of Marino, Montana and Brady rolled into one and it won't make a darn difference if you have the crap we have for an offensive line. It's delusional to think we don't need an average offensive line at minimum. All you'll have is a replay of the last ten years. Who cares if we can pass block or actually open a running lane?

Yeah, but in all reality....we were going to win 4 or 5 this season anyway. Maybe losing Tunsil costs us 3 games.....does that really matter in the grand scheme of things? We have 8 picks in the first two rounds and can easily replace Tunsil with someone "good enough" to make this a blip on the radar.

It really is- I think you could get almost half the league's starting quarterbacks for less. It was impossible to say no a few days ago and we did...then it just got too insane to even consider rejecting with the counters.

True. But I've never been a fan of letting go good, young players in positions of need for draft picks because all you're doing is creating another hole you have to fill with those draft picks.

The return for him was well worth it. My only question is how the EFF are we going to even get into the opposing teams territory this season? Mark Walton may end up leading us in rushing! This team is going to be absolutely atrocious. We will be lucky to score 10 points a game this year. We are an easy win for whomever we play this season and I doubt we win more than three games. I know that sounds great to some of you (long term it is), but this is going to be painful to witness every Sunday. I don't care who you are, if you are a die hard fan of any franchise that has to lose like this, it can get quite depressing. So...I'm definitely here if any of you have thoughts of plugging in electrical objects and jumping into a bathtub with them. Honestly....I feel bad the 95 year old Dolphin fan who checks out this winter to **** show...But hey...At least they witnessed the '72 team right? I had ten years of Dan Marino and twenty of this, so the pain at this point is something I basically live with. Fins up...I guess...

Back to the trade....Again....That is a great return for us. We have opportunity, flexibility, and a legitimate shot at a potential franchise QB in the next draft. What's not to like future wise? I mean...I don't have to play QB behind that line...I don't have to be Kenyan Drake behind that line. Then again...Maybe Brian Flores is a wizard like his former boss and he knows some sort of magical spell that none of us know? Maybe he's got some sort of awesome never seen before blocking scheme that will allow a minimally skilled offensive lineman to become an immovable object with ninja like agility? I hope so....Or is it the opposite? Is Flores the fall guy for all of this? "Here you go coach Flo, here's your chance at being a leader, no more air mattresses". I remember San Francisco doing the same thing with Jim Tomsula. Harbaugh leaves for Michigan and that poor bastard inherited the skeletal remains of a football team. He's now hiding out in Washington coaching defensive lineman....Forever scarred and always mentally reminded of his lone nightmare of season as a head coach.

Jesus! I can't believe we traded Tunsil! I mean...the return...It's great, it really is, but it's going to come at a price...And that price is probably Kenyan Drakes legs, Josh Rosens mental psyche and future, and probably the life of Ryan Fitzpatrick. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Drake suddenly ends up back in the walking boot. Christ...I know I'd be...."Yo...foots acting up again...Whens the trade deadline?" Fitz might need to rethink all of this as well...He is a family man...It's a contract year for Drake. I can see Ballage just running in the opposite direction. Gesicki will last maybe four games....This will be absolutely horrific this year. I can't wait to see the look of Flores face once he does decide to put Rosen in. It'll be like watching one of your kids get a filling at the dentist..."Oh it's not that bad son".
Sorry, i'm ranting...My mind is just blown by all of this.

All jokes aside, I hope there is a plan in place for this season, and I hope whoever gets the start at left tackle in place of Tunsil can hold it down.
    This is gonna be bad.

Exactly! Which is what has happened and the likelihood of replacing him with a player that is as good is slim to none. Next to qb a left tackle is the hardest spot to fill if people haven't noticed. All thats happened is we have created a hole at a critical position and were going to have use those same resources to replace it. We won't be using them on just a qb. And if we do he will end up the Miami version of David Carr! A guy too shell shocked to play the position.

If you don't have an offensive line, you don't have an offense. It was going to be bad with Tunsil, now it is going to be disgusting. I have no idea how many of these guys are gonna get leveled behind that crap but it will be a big number.

Wow. I was certainly not in the "trade Tunsil" boat to begin with, but two firsts? Listen, these aren't just any first round picks, either; Houston is bottoming out it's a matter of time before O'Brien gets fired. Deshaun Watson is injury prone, the defense is old, the offensive line is only improved on the blindside, and they have zero running game. This team is going to be bottom 10 in 2019, and potentially bottom 5 in 2020.

Calling it now, Tunsil walks in two years and Miami comes away with massive draft capital. Absolute robbery.

Well if YOU are flippin hopeful Unicorns must be farting glitter all over Joe Robbie in the great big Margaritaville in sky!!!!

    Fins UP!!!

Meanwhile, back at the hacienda, Mrs Fitzmagic quietly increases the amount of insurance on the family jewels.

Tunsil was about to get a huge payday, we got the initial investment back and doubled our money, plus a bonus.

And Stills doesn't deserve the shade. He stood up, even when it was hard. And he backed his words up with actions. Ya'll should pay attention.

Well, I just woke up to this, had two sips of coffee, and am still kind of taking it in. As one who has recently said I would sell the farm to get a franchise QB I suppose I can't complain too much. I know we are still going to fight like crazy to win every game, but the icing on the cake for me would be we don't have to give up any extra picks to draft our guy.
