For writing about Jared Odrick and the Dolphins' interest in him all the way back in January in the Sun-Sentinel guest columns! Can't wait to see the post-draft writeup. Till then, two days to go!
Thanks. Glad someone actually read it honestly. Not yet, I think right now it is rest and recuperation after making that video until 2 am and being up at 6:30. I think we'll do a little something before it kicks off. I am trying to get a video done for Koa Misi as well in case we draft him at 40. Might be a guy we look at 6'3'' - 251 lbs, 4.69 40 yard dash, 4.27 shuttle and 7.07 cone drill. He's from Utah.
A lot of us not only read it, we look forward to it. It is amazing you guys connected odrick to the Dolphins months ago. You seem to be a lot more in tone to what the Phins are doing then the big-time draft experts. thanks
That and your web site too. I hope you guys don't charge for premium draft info next year! Seriously, once I read your columns about Odrick, I looked at a few more scouting sites and they confirmed what you wrote about his net positives and so on. That's why I wasn't surprised when the pick was made. He was the highest-rated player on my board. I didn't realize he was at the draft in New York which says he was expected to go higher.
They get all their info from Chris Cordero. Just kidding guys. Great work. As was stated before we look forward to your pieces, and thank you for making us all look a bit smarter when we discuss the draft with our friends.
Seriously guys, thanks a lot. I don't watch many college games, and when I do, I don't know what to look for in when evaluating particular traits and skill sets for individual positions. All of your input and hard work is greatly appreciated.
Tell the truth. You're picking the team aren't you? Who do you see in the third? He needs to send his mock draft and write ups to the Tuna and get hired. For real.
Why not? Teams make moves on their personnel staffs once the draft is over and before the usual 'vacation' month in June. If there are any openings, why not try to get the foot in the door?
WTF! That is an amazing cystal ball you've got there! Kudos on the research and insight. Seriously, go apply for a job! Well Done!
Thanks guys, but it is a group effort, and truthfully a great deal of work. We each bring something to the table, which makes it really good, and easier to discuss players etc. As much work as we did this year we hope to do more next year and get an even better product out there; more videos, better layout for breakdowns, stats etc. More stuff to make available.
Wish the three amigos would do this again for the 2013 draft.. maybe include Alen as the fourth amigo.
Most of the amigos are a'busy unfortunately. I'll be doing something. I have to have a conversation with Dave about it. I'd love to work with Alen on it but I haven't had the chance to approach him about it and I know he's basically all over the place now, Rotoworld, the Boston Globe, etc. He's a hot commodity.
You guys all are! I always felt spoiled to be able to read what you three, plus allen, plus a bunch of other posters write. The amount of football knowledge on this site is incredible.
Yeah, Chris is right. Been a wild draft ride over the years. But I don't foresee it being the way it was. Both Rich and I have familial situations with regards bringing up kids and Chris is just married and probs keen to start a family. My job is just madness, so time is an issue. I'll still be on here shooting the proverbial draft breeze, but I think SS columns and the time and research are now beyond me. Alen is the right man to take on the baton, along with Chris who remains a Draft God.
Anout 2/3 years ago I wrote in this forum about how much I liked this kid from Texas A+M, a converted WR at QB. Damned if I can find it though.
I seem to recall that as well and think it was in context of something he did vs Alabama or Texas. Seem to recall KB talking about him as well.
I'd definitely take over if I wasn't in the same situation. Dental school is killing me. There are times I can't even watch the Dolphins games. Just a quick question though, how were you able to find out who the Dolphins met with and liked? Do you have a source? I can't imagine how else you would find all the information out. If you have a source do you think you could potentially keep us informed there? I know for the past 3 years that if we don't work someone out there is a good chance we don't take them... Thank you again for all the work you have done for us over the years!
Probably won't be long before I'm in the same position as Simon, but I should be able to squeeze in a few more Drafts.
Just wait till you have two that are under two years of age. Combine that with a busy practice, and I can't even find time to look at the message board.
You always did find the great one early. (Though I have to say, the Sen Derrick Marks is the best player I have ever seen period thread is still my fave). Looking forward to your continued insights. Even if you only have the time to do a quarter the research as before you'll still know ten times what most of us do. Maybe teach your kids to watch film. Your daughter can do cut ups for you.
