Kovacs promoted to full roster

Claymore95subscriberOPIt was speculated at when McCray was released, but Kovacs is replacing him on the roster. Must have impressed them a lot with his practice squad play. One of the players I was pulling for in training camp and preseason due to the stories of him never listening to people telling him he wasn't fast enough or big enough in college, and proving them wrong. Looks like he might end up doing the same in the pros.
Stitchesluxury_boxGood for him. Hope he can make some plays on STs for the time being.

DrowningNew MemberI hate it when people compare to Zach Thomas. No offense intended Not. No one can compare- not ever. The only other guy i seen fly through the air parallel to the field without regard for his body was a tackle i saw not too long ago from Clay Mathews. And though i don't follow the Packers enough to know, i severely doubt he does it as often as Zach used to.

Kiki Alonso reminds me of a young Zach Thomas....

Bingo! That kid has knack for finding the space to make tackles, he's already calling defensive signals. He went airborne on that goal-line play against the Browns. He did remind me of Zach. Rookie has to do that for next 10yrs though to match up with our #54. Just sayin. ;-)

i thought he showed some awareness in his limited reps..
btfu149forum_veteranIt would be great if he played well......Grimes has been the only good player in our secondary, even Reshad has dissapointed. Hopefully our pass rush helps them out tomorrow!
cuchulainnsubscriberClemmons isn't a star, but the guy does make plays. When Jones screwed the pooch on that opening drive against the Saints, it was Clemmons who saved the TD. Clemmons has made a lot of stops in the first 4 games, he just isn't flashy and has poor hands for INTs.
As for Jones not making plays this season, Coyles changed the defensive backfield up going into this season. To where before, everything was being funneled into Jones and allowing him to make plays, this season Jones has a lot of coverage responsibilities and he is struggling with his assignments.

A: Jones had a phenomenal season in 2012 playing in a defense that was built around his strengths, and hid his weaknesses. Last season Jones had very few responsibilities in coverage, and was allowed to freelance in the scheme. Jones was consistently rated as a top five safety by ProFootballFocus.com. His teammates told me everything was funneled to Jones while the linebackers were responsible for tight ends and backs, and free safety Chris Clemons played center field. This season, because of how aggressive the Dolphins are with the linebackers, Jones has more coverage responsibilities. He’s often lined up one-on-one with receivers, tight ends and backs, and has struggled covering them. After three games Jones checks in as the No. 56 safety, and opposing quarterbacks have a 145.4 passer rating when throwing at the targets he’s defending. This has to improve for Miami to have continued success in the secondary. My main concern about Miami signing Jones to his $29 million contract extension was the fact we didn’t see him excel in THIS defense. It is early, and everyone on defense is adjusting to their role, so maybe Jones will get better as the season progresses.
brandon27subscriberCool. Walked on at Michigan and made the team IIRC... doing something similar here undrafted. Be awesome if he turned out to be great, he's got alot of work to do though.
