Well, Kiper really has not liked what Ireland and Sparano and Parcells have done since we skipped over Matt Ryan for Big Jake Long. Last yr it was: "Cannot grade this draft class until Henne plays" This yr it has been: "This will not be a successful draft unless Pat White plays Wr" Imho that divergence is due to Ireland and Co's view on developing talent, mainly they do not play them until they feel they are ready to play football at an NFL level, typically in the NFL it is strictly On the Job training or the pick is a bust. Sort of the microwave vs crockpot theory. I attribute some of that difference to a sort of Baseball style of running the Phins, we have rotations and key bench players, the practice squad is treated like extended Spring Training and they will sit a rookie to season them.
I really think Joel Buschbaum deserves the credit for starting the underground draftnik industry. Kiper just put a TV personality and TV hair on the business. Buschbaum was doing it before Kiper IIRC and IMO better than Kiper ever did
makes sense though. you couldnt really grade last years draft till henne played. same with Pat White. Wont really know what he can do for us for another year or so. Thats why tbhe real grades come three years after a draft. We should be grading the 2007 draft after this season
McShay is a moron - I really wish we could get Kiper and Mayock on the same show, that would be great. Ive come to like Meshawn a bit more on pregames, but Im still not sold on him during the draft either - it seems like theyve gone away more from Mel and more to a studio show. Meh.
I agree. He's right on the money with the Pat White comments. I don't however get where he comes up with the low ceilings on Davis and Smith. What is that based on? Struggles as rookies? They all struggle.
And we did, Henne's "rookie year" is similiar to Flacco and Ryans rookie years. Kiper's ego is as big as his hair, he rarely admits he is wrong.
