Retired (for now) receiver Keyshawn Johnson is still thinking — and talking — about playing football again. According to the Miami Herald, Johnson recently expressed confidence that the man who made Meshawn the No. 1 overall pick in the 1997 draft would find a spot for him. ”I’m pretty sure if I wanted to come to Miami, Bill Parcells would say OK,” Johnson said. The question is whether Keyshawn wants to go to Miami, or anywhere other than the place where he’s under contract for at least another year to get paid handsomely to talk about football. Though ESPN could likely fill his spot in a second, it’s only fair to the folks in Bristol that Keyshawn make a decision sooner rather than later, so that ESPN can plan accordingly. Before Johnson decides to bolt, he needs to ask himself whether he really thinks that another network job will fall out of the sky the next time he retires. There are plenty of former players who would love to talk about football for a living, and there are plenty who would be at least as good as Johnson, who didn’t quite deliver during the 2007 season on the potential that he flashed while working the draft for ESPN earlier that same year. http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/04/13/keyshawn-still-contemplating-a-comeback/
I was wondering whats been going on with keyshawn. For a while we couldnt get away from reading a story about him, then he went away... and apparently its back now. Looking at our receivers as they stand... I might be okay with Keyshawn coming in here. Our group of WR's isn't the greatest right now, we could use another quality guy, and we could use a mentor for our young receivers. It would give us an opportunity to then use our second round picks on the other needs of the team, like CB and OL, then we could use a later round pick on a WR. Of course, at the same time though... with two 2nd round picks, we could probably get ourselves a darn good young receiver, and leave keyshawn completely out of the picture... Either way, I think it works well for us
I hope it's a fleeting thought and he decides NOT to come back - if it would be with us. I do NOT want him. He has little, if anything to offer, and he will likely get ridiculously overpaid.
This doesn't sound like there are any concrete plans to bring him in. It actually sounds more like wishful thinking by Johnson than anything else.
Geez.... If Parcells signs this pant load onto the roster he might as well bring back LT and P Sims as well! Marino1983
I wish Meshawn, and Deion Sanders would just disappear like Salisbury steak. They always want to be in the limelight.
If he comes cheap why not? He has always performed well under Bill Parcells and he gives us another option. I don't know what he has left to offer, but will at the very least give us a big, lanky red zone target.
