They started using Renegade by Styx as a song to pump up their team and fans, and it seems to work. The fans love it, and the team responds from the intensity. What does that have to do with the Dolphins? I've thought of a song that Miami could play before the defense takes the field in critical situations. This would totally pump up the fans as the song itself is raw brutal energy. Its 'Down With The Sickness' by Disturbed. Metallica works better. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_eGXPzSzAg"]YouTube- Metallica "For Whom The Bell Tolls"[/ame] For whom the bell tolls. Do it.

While I agree with the concept, I think the choice of songs needs to be something a little more mainstream (so more people will recognize it). Just like the Steelers staff picking Styx's Renegade. It's a high energy song everyone recognizes. I will admit Metallica came to mind immediately. But, I would suggest Enter Sandman instead of For Whom The Bell Tolls. Or, maybe AC/DC's Hells' Bells? Or, Ozzy's Crazy Train? A personal fave...Van Halen's Runnin' With The Devil (killer intro) would also work IMO.
Not mainstream enough to appeal to the average dolfan. It's best to stick with classic rock for things of this nature. My vote: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvP0uwl3Q6A"]YouTube- AC/DC - Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap[/ame] Goes very well with the blue-collar, trench warfare type of football we're trying to play IMO
All the songs in the world cannot make up for lack of talent... which our D has lacked for a few years... Now you trying to say that Pits Defense has no talent for the last 4-5 years and the song is the only thing that stimulates the guys, then you might have something there...
I think it's an area that needs to be improved upon, the steelers recognize the need to fire up the fan base as they fire up the defense and it does contribute to the overall effect. IMO the players are young men who would be better served by a dose of "Disturbed or Metallica as example" rather than that Miami Dolphins Superbowl song.
I'd personally rather we just put together a talented D that is so well coached and motivated, they don't need music to stop opposing offenses. Nolan may just do that for us this year if we fill a few key positions well this off season, like FS, ILB, NT and OLB.
Well, if all the fans were head bangin metalheads then I suppose it's all right. But, it's a bit long tho for a sideline intro.
One of the favorites I break out at Islander Tailgates is AC/DC's 'It's a Long Way to the Top (if you wanna rock and roll)' [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yy0I9WKWp44"]YouTube- It's a Long way to The Top (If You Want to Rock and Roll)[/ame] Like Colt 45, it works every time.
