Well, after consulting with a few friends about the "Lightning Rod" nickname and telling them the origins of it, they suggested some other names and now I am torn. Perhaps a new thread and a poll is needed?

This is where I should talk smack about the Lakers...but I digest.

It was asloppy sloppy game by both teams. The Lakers actually shot better from the field, but the unforced turnovers and piss poor free throw shooting (50%) led to their downfall. Wade was amazing last night. That shot to end the third quarter had no business going in. His pose afterwards should win him a douchie though. Borderline homoesque. His play was anything but last night.

E reminds me of what we call "New Money." If someone was lower class on the economic scale, and then won the lottery, they are "New Money." Typically they don't know how to spend it andend up frittering it away on bad investments, rims and giving some to their friends.

This is what E is at this point. The Heat are finally a relevant team after two decades of being a doormat. So their fans celebrate everything. Including meaningless December games.

Meanwhile "Old Money" people, know when and where to spend theirmoney typically, which is why they have had money since birth (due to their parents being fiscally responsible). This is a typical Lakers/Yankees/Celtics/Cowboys/Steelers type fan.

They know that winningin December, while nice and amusing, really doesn't mean anything because the team hasn't really dialed up the intensity yet and a loss doesn't kill them, let alone harm them in anyway. They also don't get excited if they win in December.

In essence, they are smart enough to not get too high or too low at this stage of the season. Celebrating any NBA regular season win before the NFL season is over is just foolish and a waste of time.

But congratulations on winning your 13th game! I remember when L.A. did that back in mid-November.

I wasn't drunk. I was actually calling to talk about something else and right on cue, ESPN showed the Lakers-Heat preview. I then remembered you droning on about how the Heat were going tosmash the Lakerson X-Mas day and how stupidly funny you were because the Heat weren't even facing the Lakers on X-Mas day.

Anyhow, when you didn't pick up, I just yodelled a bunch of crap into the phone. Completely sober.

 

Well...you can call me tonight, I dont have to be up at 4 in the am tomorrow so my phone wont be off.

 

Nah. I will be out shopping and eating dinner at PF CHANG's most likely.

Plus, I hate talking on the phone. I really have no idea why I have a cell phone considering I avoid using it at all costs.

Well you see, Robert Redford was in the "Great Gatsby" movie. He was also in the 2007 movie "Lions for Lambs," with Meryl Streep. She was in "Ironweed" with Jack Nicholson in 1987. Nicholson happens to be a huge Lakers fan. He was also in the 1992 movie "A Few Good Men," with Kevin Bacon.

Kevin Bacon stars alongside Cloris Leachman in this year's "New York, I Love You." Leachman was also in "Scary Movie 4," Where a cameo by Shaquille O'neal also happened. O'neal, as we all know...played for the LSU Tigers in college. It was also the coaching place for Nick Saban, who went on to coach our beloved Miami Dolphins for a few seasons. One of the players he coached was Daunte Culpepper.

Culpepper used to play for the Minnesota Vikings where he enjoyed great success alongside Randy Moss. Moss went to the same high school as Jason "White Chocolate" Williams, who played for the Miami Heat, alongside Dwayne Wade.

So you see, it is really quite clear.

 

well my step daughter is here from florida....my wifes so happy....me and the fam are driving through mcadenville tonight aka "christmas town usa" they have like 19 million lights.....it takes about 4 hours to drive through the 2 miles of town....gunna be fun/boring.....
