http://thefilmstage.com/2010/04/17/joss-whedon-to-rewrite-avengers-and-captain-america/ Joss obviously knows how to write. That shouldn't be a problem unless the studio steps in and starts to tell him what they want. If they leave him alone it should be fine. He has only directed one movie, Serenity, which I thought was great. And he did it on a small budget for a sci fi movie. But I think he has the potential to do it well.
I've wanted to see Joss attempt a comic book movie for some time ... at one point he was tied to Wonder Woman. I'd love to see him film the Avengers.
In case you missed it in the other thread Whedon made it official that he will be directing The Avengers. He also confirmed that Jeremy Renner will play Hawkeye. http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=68222 Renner worked with Whedon on an episode of Angel. And he was nominated for an Oscar for The Hurt Locker.
Apparently a good portion of the cast was assembled for ComicCon: http://www.hitfix.com/articles/2010...hor-and-captain-america-the-first-avenger?m=k
While I never really got into the avenger comics, I can't to see the newest members of the "Woman of Joss Weldon" club
Yeah its quite the club. I've been watching Buffy reruns a lot lately and I'm reminded of how much I love the young Sarah Michelle Gellar. And Alyson Hannigan on How I Met Your Mother has aged beautifully. Charisma Carpenter just turned 40 and still looks amazing. Amy Acker is adorable. When Morena Baccarin grows her hair out she is gorgeous. And Summer Glau is Summer Glau.
Jeez how did I forget them. Julie Benz was looking great at ComicCon. Eliza is the reason I first started watching Buffy.
