"Retired" a couple years ago, now wants to return. Potentially a cap-wise alternative to Mathis? http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...exbroncos-guard-john-moffitt-to-return-to-nfl
I was a big fan of the guy at Wisconsin. But the addiction issues and the way he left the Broncos mid-season will raise serious red flags. How do you convince a team that's all behind you? I'm not sure you really can. Teams should be interested as there's barely any financial risk. The risk comes in another form. What if he DOES impress you, earns a starting job, and then flakes out on you mid-year again? There's no problem if that happens while he's at the bottom of the depth chart. You move on. But if he's as talented as you hope he is, then all the sudden you could find yourself losing sleep at night wondering.
He's not a particularly good pro in general and doesn't fit the scheme on top of it. He'd be another misfit at Guard and I'm not sure would be much of a solution. I'd much rather they sign Rob Sims at this point.
