It's really not looking good for Beck right now. Seems like he's a killer when there's no pressure, but once he's in game situations he crumbles. Sad to see because I think he has potential.
I think it's pretty clear he's been pressing. This quarterback competition was always going to be centered around Beck. It was his job if he played well, and I think that the pressure that goes with the territory, along with some self doubt carrying over from last year has made it difficult for him. I have always been a proponent of Beck in this QB competition because I really like his makeup. However, it's clear that we can't march him out there unless he gets his confidence back. We don't want to do further harm by throwing him out to the wolves if his confidence is still shaky.
I had the same feeling before TC started. It sounded like they (the staff) really wanted him to emerge as the starter
With McCown probably taking the starting position IMO, both Henne and Beck will have a chance to take over all year. They have a long time to get it together. McCown's never finished 16 games in a season remember!
We were told by Sparano this will be an open QB competition, and this competition is far from over, we need to just relax and let it play out, the best guy will win the starting job and that's the guy we want in there, NOBODY else.
yep, i think your 100% right. None of the guys right now have shown they could play well enough to start any games,, let alone 16.It seems like they will all get their shoot at some point this year.
True that Aqua, checking down is not a bad thing, it is more a problem of making the occasional tough throw, those are the throws that win games.
I dont know if it should be after the last preseason game maybe after out of the second one. When Tony Sparano does decide on Augest 9th he should tell the starter John Beck Chad Henne or who ever it be. That just because he is the starter does not mean he cant be replaced if he preforms bad.
Where are you getting this August 9th stuff? I believe it was ESPN who reported that he wanted to make a decision by August 9th but they screwed it up again if I remember correctly. Sparano was quoted as saying that he would "like" to make a decision. EDIT: Read post 17. http://forums.thephins.com/showthread.php?t=13218
Misnomer thread title once again. Read the original thread, Jdang post, # 17. http://forums.thephins.com/showthread.php?t=13218
Coach would give them all equal playing time. Plus by the third week there i bound to be some one that is struggling and that he knows he wont be the starter. What about the chemistry of the offense? If we wait till the end of trianing camp there will be hardly any.
The point that I was making is that there is no report that proves that Sparano will make his decision on August 9th so I was asking, where you got that report that proves Sparano will make his decision on the 9th?
But the offense has to adjust to one qb and not keep switching. If they keep switching there will be hardly any chemisty between the qb and the offense.
To clear it up, Sparano first stated that he would like to pick the starter by the third preseason game. Later, he said that he would like to pick one prior to the first preseason game.
I have to sort of disagree with that RonnieBrownTown, good players make plays no matter who the Qb is, they tend to get open, and turn dip and dunk passes into long gains. I can't wait until Ronnie and Ricky are in the same backfield, McCown and Beck have never had two such excellent options out of the backfield, and either one can block blitzers something that killed us last year.
Maybe hes trying to light a fire? I really don't think he will name a starter till the week before the opener...
I have said I agree that naming a starter on augest 9th is to soon. What about the guy that goes the first week and he wins the competition. The offense is two weeks removed from him and they are use to the guy that played the third week.
Well we are a young team and we dont have a play making wide reciver yet so they have to get use to there qb.
Ted Ginn, Derek Hagan, Devone Bess, Wilford, and Foster all have the opportunity to make themselves "playmakers". And then there is Terry Glenn.
Here is what you said. Well if the guy that was named the starter for the first week of preason wins the qb compitition the offense will not be use to him because they are two weeks removed from working with him as the starter. So there willl be hardly any chemisty.
Well sense they are so young they have to get to know there qb to become play makers. Terry Glenn cant catch every thing bro, You forgot John Dunlap.
There's no way he beats out Camarillo and Bess. Bess has great hands. Camarillo might not make the squad, depending on how many WR's the coaching staff chooses to keep. If they go six, Camarillo makes the squad imo. If they go five, it is likely that Bess would stay and Camarillo could be gone.
Ok I agree that Davon Bess will stay and that Camarilo will get cut. But that does not tell me why you think John Dunlap will get cut bro. He is a good wide reciver. So it would go like this. This is not where I tink they will be on the deph chart. Ted Ginn Jr Derek Hagan Ernest Wilford John Dunlap Davon Bess How do you think it will go alen?
Why do I think he will get cut? Simply because he is not as good as the others listed. If he was that good, don't you think we would have heard something about him other than him missing a camp day due to a personal reason? I understand that your close to this player and are rootin' for him but realistically, do you think he will make the roster? If we keep 5 WR's, it goes: Ginn Hagan Wilford Glenn Bess If we keep 6 WR's, it goes: Ginn Hagan Wilford Glenn Bess Camarillo
Ok, he is likely to be acquired, which is why I said " if we keep six WR's". Please answer my question in the original post.
