"Coach Haslett and Lou Spanos, they know him very well. I don't have to sell him on the scheme or on them or anything like that," Fletcher said. "It's just a matter of a feel, how they feel he can fit in our defense with the Washington Redskins."

It will be interesting to see how the Redskins might use Porter. He's played essentially his entire career on the right side, so it's doubtful he'd suddenly shift to the left. Then again, Brian Orakpo is more comfortable chasing the quarterback from the right side, so you'd hate to knock him out of his comfort zone.

Either way, in Porter, Fletcher sees a guy who can contribute.

"He's a play-making linebacker -- outside linebacker," Fletcher said. "He had nine sacks last year? That's a lot of sacks for an outside linebacker. He didn't even play a whole lot toward the end of the year. So that's still a lot of pressure on the quarterback."

Seems like a poor fit, Orakpo would have to play the strongside as JP has been a liability against the run, but why start JP over Orakpo on the weakside?
