Really worth reading. I'm still rooting for Henne to succeed here.

Those are some nice last words for Henne, I'm curious what his actual last words were.

I imagine my last words won't be anything noteworthy, I'm personally just hoping they're coherent.

I did not see the posts with the insults and such, but I find it very upsetting that anyone here would do such a thing in a thread that was as much about Mandich as it was about Henne.
Anyone who made such comments is a piss poor Dolphins fan as far as I'm concerned.

Out of due respect for him, which essentially is due respect for our own team, I would certainly welcome and support any moratorium here on Henne bashing, grievous or otherwise.

Hardly a Henne optimist myself, I'd need to bury any sarcasm pretty deep. :shifty:

I have however, had my fill of the trash on the sidewalk.

I agree 1000 percent. It shows a lack of class but I did see part of the thread and boths sides of the fence showed a lack of class.

Maddog was a Dolphin for life and a Michigan alum. He was good friends with Chad Henne and loved the kid. I'm not the biggest supporter of Henne but this is a thread about some kind words given to him by a life long Dolphin and one hell of a good person that just passed away.

Patience only goes so far but it is safe to say that Henne is really young in his NFL career so I for one am hoping the Maddog is right. One thing Henne now has going for him is some newfound support from above...

Good article. Now I believe we are going to see a new Chad Henne this time around. I personally think he is going to do well.

One of my best friends on this forum got a 5 day ban because of what happened in this thread. I sincerely hope in the sense of fairness, that some on the other side of the fence got shut down for the same length of time too.

I've made no secret about my desire for the Dolphins to bring competent competition in to compete for the QB job, but I would love nothing more than to see Chad Henne succeed. If anyone wants to take a look at a pretty good example of a guy who had a good first year, terrible second year, and now doing pretty alright in the NFL look no further than Drew Brees.

Here's hoping...

Brees' combined first two years as a starter were worse than Henne's, 76.9, then 67.5. His 3rd year he exploded with a 104.8, followed by a perfectly acceptable 89.2.

Eli Manning is a good example too. I wonder how many Dolphins fan here would have been screaming for his head on a platter, considering his first 4 seasons he posted QB ratings of 55.4, 75.9, 77.0 and 73.9. Finally in year 5, the light came on for Eli and he followed since with seasons of 86.4, 93.1 and 85.3.

A lot of good QB's had trying beginnings.
In fact many do.
It's natural when you're making such large jump in competition especially at such a complicated position.
John Elway was awful and boo'd off the field a number of times early on.

It's why the QB position is so important.
It takes a while to really see what you have. It takes time commitment when you don't really have the time. If you choose the wrong prospect your organization is set back 4-5 years.
Henne is still in a developmental period, especially considering what has been a real lack of leadership and direction on the offensive side of the ball from this regime. This year is big for the kid.

I missed it for the rest of the day but thought a certain post was uncalled for early on.
Obviously cleaned up.
Mandich backs Henne and watch the stuff come out.
I thought respect should be the first point.
We all love Mandich here no worries.

One of the things that we often overlook is our elders' abilities to see the potential we have. Many here have bashed Henne, I think mainly out of frustration due to the QB carousel we've had since Marino's retirement.

Mandich was old school and was taught and mentored by the one of the masters of the game in Don Shula. Shula was able to awakened and bring to light Maddog's potential. Mandich sees (or saw) the potential in Henne and believed (in my opinion) it is only a matter of time before Chad Henne's dissmal first two years as a starter turns around, as Mr Clean pointed out, and has seasons like Drew Brees or Eli Manning.

Do I think Henne is another Drew Brees or Eli Manning? Difficult to say at this juncture of his career. Does he have the potential to be one of those two? Sure he does. He does have the gifts, but probably needs the teaching, coaching and mentoring that will bring those gifts to light. I have said many times in the past I place most of the blame on the coaching staff and not Henne for his medicore performances.

Hopefully hopefully those comments will help flame the will, desire and motivation to strive to be the best possible QB he can be.

So let me understand something; because Jim Mandich had an opinion about something, we have to treat it with the same reverence as holy scripture, complete with deletion of funny posts ribbing the topic?

Stupidest ****ing thing I've heard yet.

You want purity, look to something greater than what's on this earth. This is a football forum.

WOW...... the original poster was Rocky....... jake made a derogatory comment in the thread.
I merely gave my opinion.
What happened thereafter is not my fault.
There are plenty of threads to post about the dislike of Henne.
The crux is why do it in the Mandich thread?

Hey, I had to do something. That thread was like the quiet funeral fight in "The Other Guys"...

[EDIT]-I'll have you know that the pic was tasteful and harmless, I googled it for Pete's sake. I just thought the mod would quarantine it immediately if he saw the pic.

Funny story-
I googled "****" just to get a quick image, and I can't trust youporn anymore. After I posted it people started baggin' on me for my subpar selection. So I went back and googled "perfect ****" and in the image section I saw the most, ...nnhhhhHH! picture of Scarlett Johansen in beautiful repose with just the tiniest exposure of her nipple. I went to post it but the thread was already closed. I'll tell you if I'd have posted it, that thread would have rose from the ashes like a glorious Phoenix...Pffft!

Again! What Jake said was not bad. Your opinion was way off base. He never even hinted at not liking Henne. Like you said, why in a Mandich thread? I agree with that and that should most definitely have included yourself!!

Was it your fault the thread went the way it did? I don't blame you for that at all. However, you did not help. I thought that our banned friend was headed for trouble all on his own and I stuck around for a little bit then closed it up only to come back and see the thread gone and looked him up to find out he was banned.

He is a very intelligent individual and I really enjoy his contributions here. But in all my years knowing you, I've never, ever seen you fly off the handle, and that's what he did. He was wrong imo and it seriously pains me to say it. Whether he was further pushed after I left, I don't know, but he was the first to fling out names and cussing right off the bat and continued til I left. But I don't know EXACTLY what part of the TOS he was banned for either.

He absolutely deserved it. There is absolutely no excuse to act like that. I say that, because it's happened to me. And absolutely I would have been ticked had nothing happened to the guy when I've had the same punishment held up to doing it.

IMO, it wasn't a thread dedicated to the memory of Jim Mandich. We had other threads, dedicated to him and rightfully so. It was a thread on one man's opinion of Chad Henne. It was a thread dedicated to the opinion of Chad Henne, not unlike the 50 other threads dedicated to the same idea. So, I don't agree with your idea on that, but you're still a fine poster MC and I enjoy and respect the hell outta your thoughts, even I necessarily don't agree with you.

Since it was the opinion of one man who was also a Dolphins great and well loved long time announcer, don't you suppose the anti-Henne faction, out of respect to the memory of Jim Mandich, could have given their diatribe a rest for just that one thread? Would that have been too much to expect or to ask?

Guys, I posted this thread because I thought it was a feel-good story about a legendary Dolphin giving his support to the current quarterback who is trying to prove most people wrong. Mandich's words will inspire Henne. That's what this is about.

Let's just drop all the crap about who said what and who is to blame for the mess this thread became and get back on track.

Knowing Jim Mandich, I think he would have appreciated a Dolfans passion for their team no matter the side of coin they were on Henne. He'd have also appreciated the honesty and integrity in which the discussion was kept too. I agree with you that it should be civil, but the discussion can still be had.

I love Jim Mandich, more as an announcer as that is what I remember him as.
