Their unwillingness to bother covering Ray Rice was by far the biggest problem.

No he just wins games... He moves the team and SCORES. This team for all the obtained talent and Marshall plain out sucks for some reason? We need a spark at QB someone who isnt down 13 points in the fourth and laughing on the sideline like he doesn't give a ****.

Henne has NOT proven he is the franchise QB. He makes stupid plays and has cost use turnovers in almost every game this season.

Mark this down Marshall will become a distraction soon. He wan't to be recognized as a top 2-3 Wideout in the NFL and here in Miami he will not be treated as one.. His numbers will drop his attitude will sour and this team is a LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGG way from being a threat to the division and or a Superbowl berth.

Actual I will also say that some changes are coming Ross will move some people around this off season good or bad we will be rebuilding once again!

He sounds like a lot of second year QB's. ;)

Offensively Ray Rice absolutely killed us. Mason put on a clinic early. He's just plain good. But they didn't have a plan to stop Ray Rice out of the backfield.

you've been tossing the ball with Pennington? I don't think so but if I'm wrong please clarify because I'd love to be privy to some inside information.
last I heard he was healthy & ready to play. oh! read something about him holding the NFL record for passing accuracy or whatever.... wasn't he the guy that led Miami to the AFCE championship & playoffs?

I agree...if we shut down Rice, it was a ball game again. Way too many freebie first downs from poor LB coverage.

Theres a reason Pennington doesnt have a ring on his finger, its the same reason hes not the anwser. Henne is shakey, i could do without him personally. As far as Marshall getting pissed I would be too and I wouldnt blame him for being vocal, you paid the man 5 mil a season to jump start you offense's vertical game yet you continue to call the plays you have been calling for the past two year that have gotten us NOWHERE. I can count on my hand how many times we have thrown the ball 20+ yards the last 2 or 3 games. Marshall ***** up a storm baby then maybe sh*t will start happening!

On a Side Note I wouldnt be completely apposed of sending Henne to Philly for Vick or Kolb

Penny's not going to get confused for Drew Brees but it looks like he's the best option we've got right now. We can't go deep anyway, Penny gives us accuracy. If we threw deep a lot I'd see why we'd want Henne in there. We never throw deep so why do we want a less accurate QB under center? At least the interceptions are thrown really hard with a lot of zip.

Dan Marino is a hall of famer... Chad Pennington the player will never be a hall of famer... The reason I say the player is because I think he is going to make a great coach one day.

This makes sense but this is also the reason we arent a playoff team. Our defense is not lights out be any stretch of the imagination we need points, we need to be aggressive, we need to be the team going for the fake punt. We need to be taking the shots 50 yards down field. Until that happens were simply playing Wannyball (just enough to sell tickets). I dont know about you but I miss the days the Dolphins were the beast of the AFC East, those good ole days those good ole Shula days. Shula, theres a coach with balls.

Pennington could probably take this team to the playoffs, and there's no way he'd overthrow Fasano, but how far would the Dolphins get with him? MAYBE if we had Marshall in 2008 things could've been different and might've won another game and not had to face the Ravens[they are the worst matchup for Miami to this day], but after another surgery is Pennington still the same?

Come on bro, lets also keep in mind that year that the pats were Brady-less. The Jets weren't what they are now, the Bills... well I dont even have to explain that one. Throw that all in with the fact that we had a killer, dominant running game that year that really helped with the passing game.

You're really not going to notice a diference with Pennington in at QB for this team, running the offense that it is. Its designed to be boring, short passes, and ball control. It is what it is.

It's worth a shot. As long as you're making the playoffs you're at least giving yourself a shot. The 08 Dolphins might have advanced farther if they wouldn't have been unlucky enough to draw the worst possible matchup in the first game. Look at the Jets last season, they got good matchups and they advanced. Would they have made it so far if they had drawn the Ravens in the first postseason game?

The fact remains Pennington does not have the throwing power to compete at the HIGHEST level in this league. The playoff teams play to pennington's weakness it happened in 08 and it has been happening to him from day 1. Some teams play him with 8 in the box others play him conventionally. When its conventional defense Pennington will pick you apart but in the thick aka playoff teams wise up and chew pennington up. All you got to do is look up his history. SO yea we might make the playoffs with pennington but we would get much farther.

Right now I'd take that. As I said earlier, you may just get some favorable matchups. Every team can't just stop him at will or it would happen more in the regular season. The offensive line is better at pass protection than it was in 08 as well. I think that is a factor. In those 08 Baltimore games the Oline was getting destroyed. You didn't see the difference today? They were much better.

It seems like people on this site are ok with being mediocre as long as they have a chance to beat top teams. I'm tired of all of that. Every team feels like they can win it all when the season starts. Every season should be treated that way.

Yup! I am watching the Raiders complete 50 yards passes and I cant help but wonder what they got that we dont. Jason Campbell? WR Ford? Come on I know the talent on the field for miami is better than what its showing.

Yeah.....I know what you mean. Next week Jim Mandich may be too ill to call the game, and then he will gone permanently. I can see them doing that to a legend of Dolphins football. These guys (Ireland & Sparano) have no respect for our past.

as soon as you draft a qb you guarantee yourself games like these for the first few years. its part of the cost of developing a qb

Yea, he didn't call RBs number enough after the first drive, and thus allowed the Ravens to get 70 (!!!) plays on offense on the day.

All of the Pennington talk is absurd. The guy has been in the league for 11 years. He has started 16 games 2 out of those 11 years.

    Penny's average season is: 66% compl, 3232yds, 6.9 Y/A, 2.8 INT%, 3.6 TD%

    Henne's average season is: 63% compl, 3808yds, 6.9 Y/A, 2.9 INT%, 3.3 TD%

So similar and yet Penny has more than 4 x's the game experience than Henne.

It's more than just semantics. People want to pretend that an entire NFL offseason and year of practices and workouts mean nothing. Aaron Rodgers spent the beginning of his career on the bench and then jumped right in. You didn't hear, "Oh he's practically a rookie right now." He wasn't perfect but it was obvious he was ready and that he was their future. Chad Henne is a three year veteran. Still young but he has been exposed to the league longer than a Mark Sanchez or Matt Stafford or whoever.
