    ......

D Thomas also makes sense for them, it also tells me Turner really slid, almost to FA status as the Jets are in the late 20's in the waiver claims process

just saw this... does this mean he is on their 53 man list or the PS? I would assume that if he's been claimed, he's going to the 53 automatically... not completely sure of the rules, Stitches? :shifty:

Lol. Wow. Okay. Maybe do a bit of espionage. Figure out our playbook. Practice him against their CB's imitating Marshall.

Good for us! I hope they activate him when he plays us.

They probably want to get some insight to our offensive playbook as well...

They'll be disapponted in him by mid-season, I think, and cut him to bring L. Coles back.

I'm fairly sure he has to be on the roster for a time, then is PS eligible.

As for the playbook like Turner knew it very well anyway...:D

He is a body until Holmes suspension ends

Makes sense for the Jets and I'm sure Sanchez is happy to play with him again.

Well he's a guy accustomed to Sanchez's balls from back in their USC days. Shouldn't be that hard a transition to the Jets.

He'll be catching Sanchez in no time

yup. thats what i see in this pickup. good move for them. he may get cut later in the season once they've gotten what they want. Then again maybe he sticks for another season. He's improved a bit from last year so maybe they keep him around as their fifth developmental receiver

That requires a certain level of talent absent from Turner's arsenal.

Does this say anything about the Jets corps of WRs, that a guy who couldnt beat out either of two UDFA, actually three if you add in Bess, and yet he makes their final 53?

Adds credence to the theory that the Jets are very much smoke and mirrors at the skill positions.

A shame that Marshall had been sharing some of his tips and tricks with Turner.

Now Turner can share them with the Jets CBs.

Know what? they still won't have any chance of stopping Marshall. I just hope Hennne a) has the time to throw Marshall the ball b) SEES Marshall running open c) doesn't overthrow him.

Antonio Cromartie has played against Marshall for years. Are you implying that he didn't tell the Jets everything he knew about playing against Marshall the very day we traded for him?

Well, we don't know that, and there is the problem, Turner just never played, there are a host of reasons why, he could easily go to the Jests and flourish.

Fine by me. He's one of the few receivers in the league I'm confident we can cover.

I think you and all the others here who share this sentiment are right....and if so, it points to how scared that fat bastard is of having to face Sporano's squad....all that chest beating is BS

Turner underachieved at USC with Sanchez too.

Potential espionage is the only concerning factor.

I am guessing they signed him to milk some info out of, and as soon as they are done, he is gone and L Coles is in.

Why not bring in a player from a division rival? Ala Kieth Byers. Kid has to make money some way, and it's probably not going to be playing football. Do you really see Turner making the Jet roster? I don't.

Sign him, glean what you can from him. Cut him.

    It's what I'd do.

Rex Ryan isn't dumb, at least in a football sense. What you display outwardly is one thing. At no time does any football coach NOT want more information about an opponant he's going to face twice that will critically influence his team's season.

It's not being scared. It's taking every opportunity to exploit every advantage you can. It's smart in football or in life. It's how you should do business every day, all the time.

If we picked up a scrub from the Jets, would you say Sparano is scared of the Jets?

There is a good chance that the team will counter this with a subtle change or two...

Certainly. But it's a matter of disruption. A team spends X time getting everyone on the same page. If one of those players gives over info to a division opponant, of course you make changes. It's how the game within the game is played.

If I, by my actions, force you to make changes to how you conduct operations, I win. Changes in operations cause disruptions. How big a disruption depends on lots of different factors, but we've seen what damage it can do at it's worst. I suspect Turner isn't going to give them a great deal, but Sparano is now duty bound to make changes right before the season opener.

Even if Turner gave them "insight" to Marshall or the play book the bottom line is execution.

Without question. A play executed at a high level...You can't do anything about it. But, as it goes in life, things rarely go as planned.

You'd agree if a defense knows what the audibles are, or if they know what play is coming, they will be in a better position to stop it, no?

Absolutely Ala the Pats/Dolphins Marino debacle courtesy of Keith Byars. I'm not sure Turner has the smarts that Byars did. There should be a small level of concern and adjustments made but I''m not giving Turner that much credit that he studied the playbook.

I've never heard Keith Byars lecture on Physics, but I always thought he was an extremely smart football player. He is actually one of my favorite football players of all time, despite the ugly incident.

I think I mentioned Turners apparent lack of work ethic before. I don't think the Jets are going to get much out of him.

At the same time, one has to maintain operational security, and the signals have to be changed.

A pebble tossed into a pool is nothing, but it does cause ripples.

    That's about it really.

This is just a minor move to make the Dolphins counter march a little.
It's smart gamesmanship on the part of the Jets, and clearly a risk the
    Dolphins were willing to take.

Again...The JETS take him...They are on the bottom of the waiver wire priority and THEY got Turner.

should tell everyone all they need to know about Turner.

Then again...Kurt Warner was stocking shelves at one point.

  40. Samphin

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

Not too concerned. In fact, I wouldn't change a THING until week 3. Let Turner tell him what he knows, let it appear on film the first two weeks...then implement the changes if need be.

Turner never truly grasped the playbook anyway, chances are he tells them the wrong stuff to begin with.
