A friend of Jeremy Shockey tells the NY Daily News that Shockey is frustrated "with his role in the (Giants') offense." He might envision himself as more of a pure pass catcher, while the Giants have repeatedly said they value Shockey's blocking. Shockey himself may be at the source of trade rumors. It still seems unlikely he'll be dealt. Source: New York Daily News http://www.rotoworld.com/content/home_NFL.aspx
Isn't he coming off of a broken leg? Hard to get a lot in return for a guy thats coming off a major injury. Shockey is frustrated when he isn't the focus of every play on offense.
Probably not a good idea to start crying about your role just after your team wins a championship with you sitting on the sideline.
UPDATE Giants: Shockey moving out? The News TE Jeremy Shockey has been absent from the Giants' offseason workouts thus far and rumors persist that a move out of New York is in the works, including a potential trade to New Orleans, according to the Newark (NJ) Star-Ledger. Shockey has been working to return from a leg injury that kept him out of playoff action last season, and as many fans know, his decision to avoid workouts in New York is nothing new (like many alum, Shockey prefers to spend his time with former teammates at the University of Miami-FL). However, QB Eli Manning has told reporters he has spoken with Shockey and that he hopes one of his favorite targets returns. "I hope he understands we would like him back," said Manning. "He's a tremendous player. He helps us out and helps out our offense when he's out there." Our View It's nice of Manning to note Shockey's obvious skills, but do not believe the team is not working to dump this guy off. They found noteworthy success on the field AFTER Shockey was lost to injury, and in his absence, the team may feel they stumbled upon an underrated option in Kevin Boss, a young player who added substantial effort to the cause in last year's run to the Lombardi Trophy. This could result in one of the more intriguing stories of the offseason, and with the draft fast approaching, a potential trade could be forthcoming sooner rather than later. http://www.fanballnews.com/nfl/
